String Theory

Who here doesn't believe in string theory?
String theory, parallel universes and multiverses seem to piece together many questions in regards to science; both on the micro and macro level of research, and religion.
What are some of the opposing views as to why these concepts aren't valid/true?

Silence, invalid.
The idea of the universe as a tesseract is one with a great deal of validity. Something on the level of at least twenty orders of infinite.

How I believe in anything? Because I think about everything.
Why do I believe in anything? Because I'm a creature that craves answers and through my experiences in life combined with the various pieces of information that others have experienced or theorized I create a reality that fits my imagination of self and world.

"How I believe in anything? Because I think about everything."
Oh you do? Are you always thinking about your beliefs? Do you have any you'd like to offer up?

Any answers you'd care to share?

I believe in silly string theory. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silly_String

Also, I don't believe in string theory, since we don't know if it is true. Seems much more plausible than other explanations of what lies beyond our universe though.

What are your conditions on accepting something as true?
String theory has not been experimentally verified, so it is not accepted as scientific truth.

Hence the word "theory"
It really is a cool idea though.

"Scientific truth" wasn't the best term to use. Oops.
The use of the term "theory" does not extend from the fact that there is no experimental evidence to support the model. Traditionally, hypotheses required a body of supporting evidence in order to be deemed robust enough to enter the realm of theory.
There is a distinction to be made between those scientific theories which have been experimentally verified, and those which are only proposed mathematical frameworks. As far as I know string theory is the latter.
A better explanation can be found here

Sting "Theory" is a kind of misnomer. Its a hypothetical theory.
