Moved into a new place so, new environment and discovered that this place has a moderate fungal knat problem that's invading some substrates. How the heck does one go about getting rid of these?

When I had a pot grow diatamacious earth took care of every bug problem. Dust it around your tubs I would guess.
All i did was put a thin line of it down infront of my grow room and I never had bug again after 3 days lol

Thank you for your input. Did this take care of the bugs that had a foothold in your soil? That's my problem. They have invaded a few substrates and have made a home in the substrate. I take time to sit there and kill them one by one but, this is the most I've ever had at one time so that's not very effective though.

Yes I had a horrific soil mite problem. They arn't bad for your plants really I just odnt like creepy crawly's around lmao.
Within 3 days of dusting the floor ( I have cement floors in my grow room) around the 5 gal buckets i was using for pots at the time, and a thin line of it at the room's door. NOT ONE BUG EVER AGAIN. I think its something like if one or two of them get the DE on them, then they spread it to the rest. I legit had 10's of thousand of these mites/ soil gnats and it took 3 days and it looked like i never had them. This stuff is a god send and can be found at any local hydro store for 12$ lmao
It becomes completely ineffective if it gets wet though. You can even rub your dogs down with this stuff to stop fleas lmao!
EDIT: Putting it right on your sub will not hurt anything besides if the sub is wet it will make the DE pointless. Maybe a little dusting along the edges of your garbage bag liner. When I put spent tubs and bad jars outside, I always put a new ring of DE around the plot whenever I think about it. Does wonders with stopping the snails

Alright then. These tubs are raised off of the ground with five gallon buckets. Gonna start looking for this diatamacious earth tomorrow. Thanks for the advice. An interesting little tid-bit; there are three tubs each of MS and cloned culture tubs. The cloned culture tubs are senescenced as fuck and, the gnats are all up in the weakened, senescenced culture/substrates. There are NO gnats in any of the MS tubs.

Could try something like a fruit fly trap - A cup of vinegar with dish soap added. It wouldn't hurt to try some fly paper either.

Lol, I always use a little red wine in a wine glass. Put saran rap over the glass with holes. It works for me all summer long.

Thank you for the suggestions. Like I said, the fungus gnats were mainly inhabiting these substrates where senescenced culture was used. As it turns out, once these substrates were removed, the fungus gnats went with them. IF for some reason the gnats return and start inhabiting these substrates where fresh young culture was used, I'll try out some of these home remedies you guys mentioned and let you know how it goes. Thanks again.
