"Tapping the cap" actually do anything?
    #1657992 - 06/24/03 07:23 AM (20 years, 9 months ago)

What's this I hear about 'tapping the cap' of the shroom before picking it? Will this actually drop a few extra spores? I'm just wondering if there is any point in doing it...

this is only relevant if picking from wild...
also try to only collect mature ones..
lets the mushrooms spread

well, my friends shrooms are grown on a casing, about 1meter x 0.5 of a meter...so you say to just let the cap open on it's own, and then pick it? That's what he usually does, but he was just wondering if it'll do more if he 'taps' it

I guess not

Even if this would make spores to drop(which I doubt) why would you want to have spores on your casing?
