Fraiser river near mission, B.C.
bottom fishing from a boat with eulichon, salmon roe bags, and eel bait. 80 lb line i believe (not sure) with a ~12-16 oz weight and about 2 foot leader.
you could get away with a smaller, maybe 4 oz weight if you were to shore fish for them.
going out for more trout today
I have found a good secret sweet spot at my local lake that has been producing well.

Went out Saturday evening, FINALLY caught my first fish this season..
Actually first fish I've caught in approximately 13 years. Pretty fun, glad I got back into it.
I could have all the spinners, crank baits and spinner baits in the world but all i needed was a good old fashioned worm.
14". 2 1/2ish pound Rainbow

blue gill are at my favorite spots it's guaranteed if I get bored trying for salmon or steelies that I can throw a worm in on my little trout pole and pull em in one after another, when the little cats in there bite they always swallow the hook though
makes me feel bad because I really have no intention of trying to clean a 6-7" catfish but shit doth happen I suppose, going out tomorrow morning to intercept a massive steelhead run, soooooooooooo excited!!!

Here is another fish, about 170lb. Had every intention on releasin the fish but when we brought it boat-side, we discovered that the fish had been mortally hooked and probably wouldn't survive. Fish was quickly killed and was totally consumed, nothing was wasted. Is always sad when something like that happens (we tag and release every Marlin that we can), but oh well!!

OK, one more. 35lb Mahi Mahi that I caught a number of years ago, I only had one tattoo then!! I was going to post a pic of a 519lb Blue Marlin we caught last season on a mate's boat whilst fishing during a comp, but I didn't want to start big-noting myself here (unless you guys wanna see it?)

I was curious where all the Shroomery fishermen (and women) hang out. I have gotten back into fishing very hard this year, also have started to fly fish. I have been going out as often as possible and fishing for anything that has fins. I have caught 600+ panfish this year, tons of small bass(no trophies yet) and have started to target trout and steelhead since last week...nothing yet....
Regardless, onto the fishing pictures!

I have thousands of fishing pictures saved...Fishing is right up there with my obsession with mushrooms. Here are a few flies I tried when I first started out this year, I have since gotten a bit better:

Those are some nice catches!! I haven't done too much freshwater fishing here in Australia, thrown a few spinners for Australian Bass and a bit of fly fishing for trout. The lure of catching big gamefish is too great!! hahaha
Looking to combine fly and gamefish and switch a Marlin onto fly in the future - will cost alot of money to get everything I need to do it but it would be a real feather in the cap. Don't want a massive fish, 150lb would be plenty big enough!!

I have read a few chapters in different books about saltwater fly fishing...looks like fun for sure. I know if I had a chance to chase huge game fish I would be all over it in a heart beat.
I have recently been stalking a small tributary of a large river system in my area. It is a cold spring creek, very clear, low for this time of the year but I have seen some massive trout kicking around.
The first time I went I was tossing a foxxee clouser around a large rock formation in a deeper pool and hooked into a 20+ trout...she spit the hook almost instantly (regulations state you can use a single barbless hook). I regrouped, cast to the other side of the pool and hooked into a fish of equal size. I played it for a minute or so before it spit the hook in a splash as it jumped... I was heartbroken to say the least:(. Last few times I have been out that way the trout are very easily spooked, and I have yet to get into anything other then this guy...the first and only trout I have ever landed...although it is just a tease and I feel I have yet to catch a nice trout:

Interesting to see those sorts of regulations placed on tackle over there, whilst netting and other non-rod and reel styles are banned here, the types of hooks used aren't regulated unless fishing in a tournament. And even then, not all tournaments have stringent hook regulations.
If you ever get the chance to go and chase some billfish, take it. You might not catch anything but at the very least you will have an amazing day. Should come to Australia and chase some billfish, during certain times of the year we can see anywhere up to 10 fish tagged every day. Makes your knuckles drag on the ground after all that!! hahaha
