Tiny Thais.
    #1656516 - 06/23/03 07:57 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

I grew my first batch of Koh Samui's. They were tiny. I mean 2.5 inches tall and caps the size of pencil erasers. I'm sure I was low on watering my casing, but would this result in that small of shrooms? Also, what are the chances that these tiny shrooms are as potent as the huge b+'s that I grew? These thai's were grown on straw.

Another quick question. Are flouresent plant gro-lights good for initiating pinning? Thanks.

Koh Samui and its "sub-strains" are commonly shorter, but often make up for its short stature with girth.

When given the same growth environment, 2 grams of your short Koh Samui's will have a potency comparable to 2 grams of your tallest B+'s.

The light from flourescents will initiate pinning just as well as 500 watt high pressure sodium lamps.

Best wishes for your next crop.

That does sound too small. All of mine are short, but have thick stems. Occasionally, I'll get one with a stem as wide as a coffee mug.

What was your substrate? Brown rice flour and vermiculite? If it was, expect a smaller yield. Try them again with wild birdseed or corn and I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results.

seems smallish shrooms are pretty common for most thai strains,
but of course low water contenbt will also trigger that.
