Sucking/Blowing Tyvek

My friend likes to use tyvek filter discs to cover his grain spawn, just secured with the jar rings. It helps facilitate air exchange which makes popcorn colonize fast as hell, My friend was wondering if he should suck/blow through the tyvek discs to get even more air to exchange. This could make them colonize even faster, theoretically. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't recommend it. I'd just let them be. Tyvek is an awesome filter material.
BTW, I like the Elliot quote

Just shake the jars. This will spread colonized parts to uncolonized parts and the shaken up grain will push out old air and suck in new

Set it next to a really loud speaker. The vibrations should cause rapid air exchange. You should be able to see the tyvek vibrating.

too much air exchange during colonization can allow the upper layer of grain to dry excessive so it won't colonize. our results improved when using just tyvek and a rim band when we covered much of the tyvek with duct tape [had to tape the injection hole anyway], just one piece right across the middle reduced surface area by half and let our grains finish better.

Thanks. And what's wrong with crossposting? The advanced cultivation forum provides a different set of answers than this one, it was a valid question for both forums. I didn't spam it or anything.

Question, don't we carry nasty vermin that would most certainly cause contam of some sort by blowing in to jars? I want to be safe than soory.

For each question, there is an appropriate forum.
I do agree that you'll likely receive difference viewpoints, but in this instance, this forum would probably be best suited for an answer as it is not really an advanced cultivation question.
No worries.

Cross posting is frowned upon by the admin. Most of us read both MC and AMC. If everybody starts to cross post, that means we have to wade through that much more junk before we can get to your question.
Have you ever tried to blow through tyvek? If you can get air to pass, then you have holes and should replace the filter. Good tyvek lets air diffuse through it, but you should not be able to blow through it. (Kind of like a balloon that slowly loses air.)
When your jars are stalling, flip them upside down. The CO2, which is heavier than oxygen, will sink to the bottom (now the top) of the jar and pass through the tyvek filter.
Be careful that you don't loose too much moisture with the tyvek filter. I found that I had to cover most oft he mouth with something else to keep the substrate at the top from getting to dry.
