Fasting
    #1655783 - 06/23/03 02:33 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

I hope this is the proper forum.

I want to fast, I've read about it and
it seems like it'll make me feel better
physically, spiritually and intellectually.

I've seen busineses that charge an arm and a
leg to get on their fasting program.

Is there anywhere i can learn a good way
to fast for free? Does anyone here know
much about the subject and would be willing
to help me, perhaps?

arnold ehret's _rational fasting_ is the classic...
edmond bordeaux szekely's essene plan is still popular (several books, including _the essene gospel of peace_)...
i think that dick gregory's _cooking with mother nature_ is the most readable (and funniest?) book on fasting...

(oftentimes, the basic decision is whether or not you are going to accompany the fast with enemas/colonics... i suspect it may speed things along, but may not actually be neccessary... ymmv...)

Why would anyone pay someone to show them how to "not eat"? Fasting is simple. Ramp down your food intake for a few days. Drink nothing but purified water for X number of days during your fast. Break your fast with fruit only. The next day add some fresh veggies and the day after eat as per usual.

When fasting, stay off the computer and forget TV and major socializing. Do long walks, stretching/yoga, meditate and keep a journal.

That will be $50.

I've always had very erratic eating habits, but when I moved out of my parents house I basically stopped eating for the better part of a year. I weighed like 130 lbs. I'm 6 foot 1.

anyway, I think that it made me trip really really hard but overall not eating isn't a healthy thing to do, so I would recommend a balanced diet unless you are in serious need of an earth shattering shamanic experience.
