why is this albino cap green?
    #16534376 - 07/15/12 11:06 AM (12 years, 6 months ago)

So I did some aa+ some have came out ok but this one is going green I have picked it and cut into it, its hollow inside and not as dry, turns blue upon handling I'm wondering if you might know if its a contam or if its okay? Rubbing tissue does not transfer anything so either its v potent or something else is going on.

I have put the shroom next to a normal albino for comparison

Any advice hugely appreciated!

It's not an abort, that's for sure. Sometimes albinos will exhibit this greenish/blue coloration. It's completely normal.

How potent were they?  Ive grown some strains that 1g dry is enough for a nice lvl 3 trip and other strains took 2.5, sometimes 3g for the same effect.  Im going by blueing so does my assumption of the depth of blue mean potency?

This is what they look 24 hours later, I have two huge ones growing.. will post pics later

You want to try to avoid bluing. When a mushrooms bruises blue what is happening is the oxidization of the active compounds.

Bluing doesn't relate to potency.

If you did MS, your potency will vary. If you did a clone, I can't really tell you how potent it'll be. As potent as Cubensis.

totally right, blueing does not have anything to do with potency. if it did, wouldn't pure psilocybin be blue (unless somehow processed in an oxygen-free environment)?

I've got a contaminated tub growing right now, it popped out about 5 albino fruits and all of them have a greenish tinge to them from the bruising compared to the other normal ones that look blue.

I lost some weed once naughty mushrooms :spank:

IDK, in my experience, those mushrooms that have the most severe bluing while eating them fresh give the most profound trips

Interesting, saying that I think there's different kinds of albino, some are true that produce white spores while these ones are a mutation, right?

Correct, AA+ is a mutation, not a true albino.

I've had contaminated grows in the past but none of have produced albino fruits before like this one did. Wonder if it was because of the new "strain" I'm using is more prone to albino mutations. It does seem to be more common with GT's rather than Cambodians.

So are we saying that some fruits that grow from a MS batch can be albino while the other fruits are the usual GT or Cambodia, in terms if brown cap color?  Then to isolate the albino mutation, simply take a print?

You would have to do a series of cloning and multispore grows from the clone's prints to confirm and isolate the phenotype.  It takes quite a few cycles of this to isolate a phenotype to the point that it is a dominant phenotype in a spore print.

The idea with the MS grow part is to get a fruit from the next generation that exhibits the traits you want.  By selectively choosing the mutation through the generations, then you can get a spore print that regularly produces the mutation.

Ok, the mystery with this is getting deeper!

I just got home from work and noticed one cake that was going slower than the others has fruits on it with all brown caps!?!? They look like regular cubes... WTF??
