Casing question
    #1653887 - 06/22/03 05:40 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

I need to grow a lot of shrooms QUICKLY. I started growing them as cakes, they have been in the terrarium for about 2 weeks now and most have started to pin. However I would like to grow faster and i know producing another cake would take about a month. My question is, can i take one or two of the cakes that's in the middle of pinning now and use that as a substrate in a case? If so, could the mycelium "switch gears" back into colonizing rather than the pinning stage it is in now? Please give me some suggestions and advice, thanx.

If you really want to grow a bunch of shrooms quickly then crumble those cakes and use them to spawn a bulk substrate. A combination of straw and horse shit works great.
