I see all sorts of movies posted on here as ones to watch while trippin'. BUT...nothing tops the ANIMATRIX shorts. For all you trippers...GO right now down to your closest DVD retailer and buy this DVD. It will BLOW YOUR MIND!!! Wait until you have just come all the way up...stick the DVD in and let your mind reconfigure itself beyond your wildest dreams, philosophies, and constructs. It is insane!

I liked "The second Renissance" shorts from the Animatrix, they totally blew my mind. Honestly, the coolest part is probably the chick inside the cool computerized menu that introduces the history file of the second renissance.

yeah that one was my favorite. What a flip, instead of humans being plugged into a machine matrix, a group of humans plug a machine into a dreamlike human matrix, in order for it to trust them and switch sides.
But, why does she freak out in the end?
My second favorite was "Beyond" where the girl goes looking for her cat and finds a 'contaminated' area where they all play around with reality. the scene with the 2 concrete segments and the reversing shadows is DAMN TRIPPY. if you have it, check out that scene again where the littel girl goes 'i figured it out yesterday'

Indeed some BAD ASS SHIT!!!
Ill probibly trip off it tomorrow. The one were that guy discovers the matrix in a race, is like my story.
The last story is trippy! num 9
The second rennesiance part II is really like the "future" (all though the machine and human story is somewhat different )
Anyways, one of my favorite parts are when the machine stands before the UN. Almost somewhat chilling.
"your flesh is a relic, a mere vessel. Hand over you flesh and a new world awaits you.... we demand it." During this he holds a scroll and an apple, and uses a barcode. Tripped out!

The episode with the machine they catch and convert is one of the trippiest things ive ever seen... sooo weird. I would love to see a whole movie made out of that.
Also the skateboarding scene is damn cool. I like the music during that part especially. Like really tranquil and mellow sound going with a fast-paced scene... it has a really good contrast.

My opinion of the girl who freaked out was because the robot came towards her in the simulation with it's hands outstreched and such, it kinda seemed like it got the wrong idea and she freaked out...then again maybe I got the wrong idea...I was really really baked. That part how those two guys beat the hell out of that female robot on one of the renaissance episodes, and she's weezing in this really evil way, and just before they land a finishing blow to the head she screams 'I'm real'...that disturbed me.
Oh and Llamanose, that chick inside the cool comperterized menu thing is copied off a rather famous image of nirvana according to budhism that has buddha sitting in the middle and another 10 or so different gods (for lack of a better word) sitting around him in a circle each on a cloud of their own. But yeah, the wachowski bro's have done their research, even if calling the city zayan is scetchy and a touch controversial.
That episode about the kid who ends up jumping off the building just smacks of trying to get in touch with the youth of today...IMHO.
But none the less, absolutely awesome movie, but I found it quite a bit too much at times when I watched it with a fair amount of herb, stereo headphones and a laptop right infront of me in a dark room. I couldn't imagine tripping while watching it, though maybe I'm just soft. :P
-------------------- I rose up towards the ceiling, rolled over, and looked down on my body, lying there in peaceful repose. I thought to myself, "Damn, too much".

maybe since she was knocked out when she was plugge in and saw a robot reaching for her (even tho the robot was in a new form) she freaked and died.
As for scenes in The Second Renaissance they drew a lot on religion (ethere are MANY references to Buddhism and Christianity in the movies themselves--check out the matrix website), and historical occurances. Like the scene where the robot is on it's knees and a human shoots it in the head-from Vietnam. The robot standing in front of tanks--Tienenamen Square, I believe. Fucking Brilliant. still wondering if anyone noticed that thing in 'Beyond' where the littler girl says 'i figured it out yesterday'

Actually I think it's spelled "Zion" and is probably derived from the "zionist" movement which created israel. A "zionist" in today's world would be someone who believes the jews deserve a home land and the israel is that homeland. I have no opinion on that, I just thought that little bit of info might interest someone out there :-p (zionism = jews deserve a homeland.... "zion" = humans' last "homeland")

You've got it the wrong way around. Put simply, Zion is the Promised Land -- the land promised to the Jews by God -- I think to Abraham -- if they kept up the various parts of the Covenant.
The Zionist movement derives from this -- they're the ones who think that the Jewish people should have a distict, national homeland.
It's kind of interesting when you think about it, because you can draw parallels between Matrix Zion and Israel -- they're both the last holdout for a people; (well, kinda...%) they're both under seige by various influnces...
The Matrix has always had really trippy religious symbolism incorporated into it -- in the new movie, for example, the car Agent Smith drives has a livense plate that has "IS" followed by a number on it. This relates to a passage in the bible from the book of Isaiah about a smith. Look on google for the exact passage; I forget.

All I can say is that the guy who put that segment together had to have done a LOT of mescaline. From what I understand, it incorporates a lot of classic imagery in the trippiest scenes.

Hehe, yah that's what I was trying to say but you articulated it better than I could :-p
still, pretty cool that way. The matrix does have a pretty cool story, but I think it would actually have done a lot better as a book.... it just seems like it would have lent itself really well to the "imaginary" wolds of books, there would be so many great amazing ways to create the world of the matrix. I mean, the watchowski bros did it pretty well, but I coulda done it better lol

I was on 6 grams syrain rue and watching the movie. Holy shit the movie was mind blowing i was peaking about after the 2th show rue last for along time. After the movie i went to bed but could not sleep the images of the movie were passing in front of my eyes this was scaring me. Rue make more emotions more highten. All i wanted it the evil out of my head i was grabbing my hair trying to make the pain of pulling hair out get rid of this feeling i had. I manage to take control of my slef and let out the longest vomit i ever had after that.(gladly in a bucket) I stumble out into the living room and watched some normal TV being amazed at the feelings i was having with the images on the TV.
But all in all the movie was VERY strong and i was very fucked up.

The Animatrix is really tight and I'll have to watch it next time I smoke bud, though last night I watched The Matrix while stoned. That movie is genious! There are so many things I noticed that give the viewer hints that it is not the real world, but a machine created world: Everything is green to the point where you could almost see the matrix code like Neo sees it at the end, almost all the walls, ceilings, and floors of all the sets have a grid pattern or very rigid line designs showing the structured nature of the machines, while the Nebuchadnezzer has blue and red wires curving around everything which represents the human blood circulation system. And the way the camera captures each shot in the movie as if it was a comic book! I kept on freezing all these still images in my mind thinking this would be an awesome comic!
