all drug literature is neat.

I read 5 of his books, and found them very interesting and inspiring, as thats what first propelled me into mysticism. Its an intersting look at the mysteries of the universe from a unique point of view. And it is not based on drugs, or does not even recomend the use of drugs, but does say they can be used to help us break our own already formed view of the world and understand more complex ones, but this can be done without them.

No, you do not need drugs. Just need to be chased by a mountain lion in the pitch dark desert, stalked by a witch, and spend many weeks getting your head tweeked by a couple of playful & wacky brujos.

yeah. here's where I can agree with swami. If don juan did pull _any_ of that shit on me, I'd be kicking some guru ass. I'm not some fatass anthro major. I totally sympathize with people who need this kind of thing as an outlet for their frustrations with their surroundings (I met an exchange student from russia who was a real believer) like in the 60's or whatever, but to my modern sensibilities... I mean, I've seen way cooler stuff than castenada describes

I crack up everytime Genaro defies the laws of physics and starts running up tree trunks, etc.
I think some of the material covered dealing with internal monologue has some real substance to it.
And the whole Tonal / Nagual thing seems to go with the conscious / subconscious concepts quite well.
I've only read most of Tales of Power. Good shit.

hehe, I don't remember that one... the series was awsome, insightful, a captivating adventure, but the fact that Castaneda lied about the events actually taking place really dissapointed me. Sucks that people will lie to that extent... I mean he could have sold it off as the fiction that it was, of course then he wouldn't have had a cult following and made as much as he did but really, to go to that degree and mess with the public like that...

don genaro is a funny character and he made me laugh out loud often
i thought it was interesting, but the major premise in the ability to achieve their "feets"(there you go swami ) was to let go of "reason"... which i can't do... but if i did....wait... no i can't....
but if i did !!

So theres some mystery about whether those events actually happened...
but may I remind you that millions base their lives on a book called the bible which tells stories that we know didnt happen, at least most of them.
