yeah. the first smartphone i got wa a blackberry bold. i loved that thing. then i got an iphone and wanted to commit suicide. fuck that thing. then i went to another blackberry (the curve I think) and was in love again. the only thing I really didn't like was the web browsing, which is what i use my phones for the most. That died a horrible death and I got this fucking sII
I think I'll go back to a blackberry. i like the qwerty keys. and they are solid phones.

I work on computers and phones for a living. All I have to say is that phones today are like computers 10 years ago. It's a hardware race and trying to sell specs and design. The functions and features are cool, just dont set your expectations too high.
I still giggle when people make fun of me for my blackberry bold, but I swear by these things. 2 day battery life and all the basic functions of a phone work properly
Nope. It's a problem with the manufacturers that put a garbage, bloated skin and an old OS on their phones. I can get 2 days out of my Gnex running AOKP, and it has 50% more pixels than the SGS2.
Put on AOKP, install BetteryBatteryStats, squelch your wakelock inducing apps and you should get great battery life.

You gotta outsmart your smartphone HTC Ruby - S-Off - Rooted - Android Revolution HD
--------------------
It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?

I think something's wrong with your phone OP. That type of battery life is very abnormal. I doubt it's any of the apps you're using causing that drastic of a drop in battery life.

You should root and run BetterBatteryStats, that's step one to seeing what's draining your battery.
Kernel wakelocks (BetterBatteryStats can monitor them) stop your phone from going to sleep properly, and that's what is draining your battery such a ridiculous amount. If you figure out what apps are causing them and remove them, your battery life will increase tremendously.
It could unfortunately be built-in bloatware/crapware that is running in the background, that is why I suggest putting AOKP on it, the ROM is fucking PHENOMENAL. Your device will be faster and smoother, your battery life will be better, and you won't even know how you managed with that garbage TouchWiz skin you have.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php is your best friend. Find the forum for your phone, read everything you need to know, install clockwork recovery, and have fun.
AOKP can be found at http://aokp.co/index.php/news, but make sure you learn how to install CWM, root, and make a nandroid first.
