Help! Yellow droplet in jar!
    #1650588 - 06/21/03 09:04 AM (20 years, 7 months ago)

My foaf has a couple jars of WBS and all are almost fully colonized but there is one that is, id say, about 98% done but it has this one yellow droplet inside the jar. But other than that its been doing great and none of the other ones have this yellow thing in it. It looks like a yellow rain drop. anyone know what this could be from? Could this be a contam?!

it's 'mycelium urine' .. know this from reading this question 1000 times on this board. Happens when jars age, not a contam.

probly mycellial piss which is nothing to worry about its just waist that the mycelium, produces. like when we take a piss, although if that were in my jar i would throw it away. you can never be too sure.

Possibly aspergillus flavus, but likely mycelium excretions or excess water from the WBS.

Isolate the jar. Check periodically for contamination growth and odors.
