I'm not entirely sure about other places, but most places have it divided up amongst all the dealers.  Typically the poker room is different though and each dealer there fends for themselves.  So in other words I got a nice little taste of that $7,000...   Keyword being "little".

So like world series poker dealers are pretty much the best of the best making 500k a year?

I have no idea about the WSOP dealers.  I don't know why they'd be that much better than any other dealer.  Might just take the most senior dealers from whatever casino is hosting the event... Couldn't tell ya on that one.

Good luck with that.  We don't have a single table at our casino with less than 6 decks.  I don't know how common 2 decks or less is anywhere else but I can imagine it's annoying as hell having to wait for the dealer to shuffle after every single round.

also dont go for $10000000 dollars. you will not keep winning forever. have a reasonable goal for yourself, say $200 into $400, would be quite an accomplishment. Youve doubled your money!! Once you meet your goal walk, and dont come back. On the opposite end, dont bet what you cant lose. Its ok to cash in for $200 at the table, but if you can only afford to lose $100, you gotta force yourself to walk once it gets that low. I also understand some people just love to game regardless of what they take (I can sit happily at a blackjack table for 8 hours even if I only come up $20 or so). If that is your goal, right on! But still If you end with a few hundred more than you had, save that shit man, dont start betting like youre a millionaire. It feels so good to actually come home with more money that you brought!

Also, if you like sports, try making some baseball bets. In my opinion its 3 hours of entertainment that you might get paid for. Betting makes the game more interesting for me, so ill throw $60-70 on a couple teams I like, including some parlays. Its damn hard to hit every one (though not impossible), usually ill end with +/-$10 from where I started. But every once in a while Ill hit a nice parlay and come up $100 or so, for watching baseball and drinking beer. that is sweet!!! And football season dude dont get me started.

eww thats nasty. I wouldnt touch 6 decks with my money unless my motivation was to hang out and drink with friends or something. Look at your odds drop as your # of decks increase

http://wizardofodds.com/games/blackjack/calculator/

I dont care about the shuffle. but im a hang out and chat kinda player, nor I dont want the dice rolling every 3 seconds. Usually when it takes 2 minutes inbetween dice rolls, it means the table is doing very well. Same can be said about blackjack. If the pace is nice and relaxed its more comfortable imo

I've done nothing but lose in American casinos,
but have destroyed on Canadian ones. I'm talking hundreds. In one weekend.

I don't think there's a correlation, it's just my experience.
But odds definitely seemed more suited to my wallet up there.

I could have an interview coming up as a house shill.  Would get to play poker all night on the house's money to keep customers in the game. I'd love it, but i dont know if i am good enough.  Plus i am going back to school next month so i wouldn't be there long, but i know enough of the guys now to be able to at least get an interview.

thanks for the solid advice. i honestly just wanna have a good time and i'm not seriously anticipating winning a large sum of cash. If i make even $20 profit, i'm dancing when I get home.. that's like half my phone bill for hanging out with friends and some beers at a casino. I have heard that there are 6 decks at the casino where i'm going.

What is the tipping etiquette at casino's btw? Last time I went, my friend asked me if I tipped, which I didn't, so i'm not sure if that's frowned down upon?

It's good etiquette to tip.  If you hit a blackjack on a decent bet you should probably tip.  Or if you hit one or two on even minimum bets its nice if you tip, or if you hit any of the side bets.  Not everyone does but the legit people know enough to tip.  Even if you wait until the end and give a tip before you leave that works, but then there's the chance that you'll end up losing and the dealer will get screwed.  You can put up "dealer bets" too, where you put up a dollar or two, and if you win, the dealer pays that bet and then makes what you put up, plus what he pays out from the casinos money.  Those are good sometimes.

As much money as casinos make, they really don't pay dealers shit!  All the money comes from tips.  And I can tell you dealing cards all night is more difficult than bartending and people don't seem to mind throwing a dollar per drink most times.

I will tip based off my winnings. it sounds harsh but if i dont win im not gonna tip. If I win I will tip appropriately. Something like this would be appropriate imo:

$4 for $100
$7 for $200
$9 for 300
$11 for 400
$15 for 500

also if im doing well, I will occasionally (like after a blackjack) make bets for the dealer at the same time. You can do this by putting a dollar chip or whatever behind your bet. If you win the hand, the dealer wins your tip bet plus what the bet paid. Dealers usually like the bets tips better because they increase their payout.

Usually 2-3% of your take is an appropriate tip.

You should stop here, seriously. I know a guy that had it all, somewhere in life he developed a gambling addiction. He went to a casino, and starting blowing 10 grand every 2 weeks. I'm not even lying, now he is broke as it gets.

It's a disgusting habit, one I'll never understand. I seriously don't understand it at all. Don't know how I ever could. You could take a guy who just made 200 grand, and send him to a casino, and fucking watch him spend it all for a million. I'll never get it. It's a habit you don't want to slightly have, and when you are dead broke, you'll be explaining to people "I just kept thinking I'd win! It's not my fault I have a habit!" and not a single fucking person will understand you, I guarantee you that.

Going to the casino is fun.  A lot of people can go and have a good time and not be addicted, or have a 'habit'.

If you're going to play Roulette, get to the table, maek your bets, and if you're up after 15 minutes, WALK AWAY.  The longer you stay at a roulette table, the more you'll lose.  Period.  Nobody's lucky for a continued period of time.

I turned $200 into $700 last weekend playing roulette at Charles Town, WV.  Ended up with $280.  Just walk away.

i disagree.  if you play safe to the odds, placing 24-25 bets spread across the #'s, you can actually do well, assuming you don't hit too many consecutive bad runs.  roulette is what i like to play at casinos if there is no cheap poker.  in a 2 hour session, i'll usually walk away with $50-75 up by playing it slow and safe.

as well, you should set a limit to walk away from the table, for both winnings and losses.  any time i'm up at roulette, i chip out what i initially put in, play from winnings, and chip out every $25 in the positive from there on

Has anyone known somebody or been on the floor when a bad beat jackpot was hit?

I was at Harrahs Casino playing 2-5 hold em and the table next to me hit the bad beat jackpot for 380,000 dollars. The place went wild. Man it would have been so sweet to be at that table.

When my buddy and I went to Vegas we crawled back into our hotel after a long night on the strip and decided to play some slots before crashing.  I put a dollar in a machine, pulled the lever, and won $100.  I immediately cashed in then went to bed.  It paid for drinks the next night...

haha nice newbie, your story reminds me of my 21st birthday. my brother and his gf (wife now) took me to vegas. I was a brokeass and lost what little money i had on the tables. I had $3 left to my name and put it on 13 black on a roulette table and it fucking hit.

they paid me like $115 or somethig, and for a penniless 21 year old in vegas, you could imagine how happy I was hehe. still went home broke as shit, but that extra money definitely helped

At the casino here, everyone in the room benefits from a bad beat.  It's never been hit and most people are predicting no earlier than late 2014, at the earliest.  One player was saying even where he played regularly in Vegas, where they have about 100 tables in the poker room, it still hadn't been hit.  I'm referring to the mega bad beat though, lots of places have two, mega (standard) and mini bad beat.

(Mini bad beat being any 4 of a kind beaten.  Regular or Mega bad beat being any straight flush beaten.  Something very close to that, I forget exactly.  Keep in mind there are tons of stipulations like both players have to play BOTH hole cards in bad beat hand to make it eligible.  All types of little bs to make it even less likely.)
