If you had about 4 square feet of growing area, would you prefer for example 8, .5 square feet casings. Or would you choose 2, 2 square feet casings.

Does one have any advantage over the other?

i guess that depends on your experience. i've never done a large casing, so i'd go for a lot of smaller ones. however, if you're confident you can get away with a big one with no contams, by all means go for it!

edit: oh yea, from what i've seen larger casings == larger fruits

Well, 2 big casing would probably be better if you were really good at what you are doing, since if one of them contams you are kinda screwed. 8 is playing it safe. 4 is probably best unless you have done this before.

my iguana has had 10-20 small casings at once and ran out of room so ......he took some and put them gently together in a couple of big casings and just evened off the casing layer with some fesh stuff and it worked great.
I can say this.....

bigger casings=bigger shrooms
