Birdseed

I have two questions.

1.) If the only substrate I have access to at the moment is corn, can I just load 1/2 pints with corn and then case with verm? I know this is a stupid question but from reading some other posts some people made it a little vague as to the answer.

2.) I have limited access to BRF but I want to do 6 cakes. 3 of two different strains. Can I use this

and just follow the same procedure as using popcorn for jars and inoculate without using other substrates? Because the only tek I was able to find - with minimal effort - was where I had to STILL add verm. and BRF. The ingriedients to this bird seed are Millet, Grain Products (that's what it says!), sunflower seed. So could I just follow a popcorn method to sterilize and inoculate-or are BRF and verm. nessecary?

And please post some links to some good teks if any one has any. Thanks a lot.

Best bet would be to use your 1/2 pint corn to spawn some straw corn on it's own is pretty dry to try fruiting as a cake but yes it still does work but not great fruiter. straw is easy to find and contam resistant 1/2 pint corn with straw will produce alot and is very easy and grows very fast

Fugu, lol.... You sure can be hard to understand sometimes.

You can use the corn, or the birdseed for generation of spawn. Following the popcorn tek probably wont get you where you need to be, but its a similar process. Do a birdseed search here and you should find many different methods of preparation, just as there is a few for popcorn.

Personally I would do as FallenShroom says and spawn some straw, or manure. You can case the corn or birdseed but you will have MUCH better results from spawning bulk.

Fugu I do not believe you can e-mail them or find them online anywhere, although somewhere like Petco or some other online petshop might have it. Not sure though. Plus shipping charges to Istanbul prolly wouldn't be to cheap-hehe.

My iguana uses the same prep for popcorn AND WBS ...works for him.
