WoodChip/ PF Tek Mix for oysters and Paneouls Stipticus

I recently made a woodloving substrate but lacked sawdust. I basically used RR's wood loving tek from his video but had to make some substitutions. This is the recipe I made for my substrate
4 cups hydrated wood chips (alder) 1 cup Verm .5 cup BRF .5 Cup Wheat Bran .25 cup Gypsum .5 cup Water
I realize that it sounds like it would be dry but it seemed to be quite moist. If the water content was right would this substrate be suitable for woodlovers. Are there any problems with this substrate if so what are they and why are they problems. Thank you very much for your time.

Based on my (small) experience with wood based substrate...
if the water content is good you should have no problem to sucessfully inoculate and colonise this substrate if you use grains spawn. I don't think you will have success using liquid culture or spores... but I could be wrong. Fruiting success should be good with oyster.
Good luck and please, keep us updated.

i also use wood chip as a substrate. the problem i run into is that the wood chip is large and there are big gap between the chip so the mycelium have a harder time to colonize. i add straw(chop) to my mix to fill in the gap and my oyster do fine.

So the main issue with using wood chips is just the spacing, so using brf and verm to fill in the gaps should be ok is what I am gathering. I am pretty sure that I am fine using any kind of inoculate as long as my process is sterile. I was thinking I would be fine since oysters and lions mane can grow on straight BRF/Verm but prefer wood and the only issue with the wood is the spacing. Anyone else want to add their opinion?

Less wheat bran, and grind up the chips even smaller if you can..

* I said no to liquid inoculant, but if you have enough BRF substrate it should be just fine. Make sure you inject at the right place and not only on wood chips.

Black peace I was not dismissing your warning but I really don't see how the inoculate could make that much of a difference in success. IMO, Sterile living tissue, seems like it would be sterile living tissue but I don't have any experience with wood lovers and this is my first attempt.

I still need to see a sucessful inoculation of wood chips with liquid culture or spores. Colonized grains of healty mycelium will colonize the wood chips a lot more agressively than a liquid culture inoculation. You will also end up with a lot more nutritive substrate with grains than without.
And again, if it's more like a big brown rice flour cakes with some wood chips in it... it could work very well too. Experimentation is fun. Good luck
