Using PGP encyrption?
    #16476266 - 07/03/12 05:24 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

Can anyone recommend good, trusted software?

Can anyone also help give me tips on how to use it?  I'm a little naive to tech things.

Thanks for the help

What do you want to encrypt? Just e-mail? IM conversations? Binary files? An entire disk?

I use Thunderbird and Enigmail with GPG for e-mail. It works great, but it might not have anything to do with your particular needs.

Sorry I'm sure it's obvious but what does SR stand for?

Edit: you mean silk road? You can probably just say the name, I don't think it's very obscure anymore hehe. Don't they have tutorials and stuff? You could probably get away with using Hushmail, but they do have the ability to decrypt and share your e-mail if they're ordered to (there was a news story about this a while back).

If you want bulletproof secure e-mail then look into the setup I recommended: Thunderbird with the Enigmail plugin and GPG. Enigmail has a friendly interface for generating your keypair and managing your keyring, and it integrates seamlessly with Thunderbird. GPG is open-source and can be considered fully trusted for all practical purposes. If you have specific questions about getting it working I'll be glad to help.
