Things you will need: A small bathroom vent fan A 27lb Tidy cats litter container with lid 4" dryer vent ducting 8ft Water resistant hvac tape 120v w/ground cord 4+ft Dimmer switch (optional) Heat shrink tubing non conductive dielectric grease Utility knife
First start by disassembling and cleaning every part thoroughly:

Reassemble and wire to the 120v wall outlet cord, use the heat shink and dielectric grease to ensure a water resistant connection. At this time you would want to seal the fan for higher efficiency and to keep the humidity high. Check its operation.

Cut a hole 4" or larger in the lid, check for positioning and secure and seal with tape.

Check operation again before securing and sealing ducting to fan housing.

Cut a hole in the bucket portion and secure and seal the ducting. I cut a 2x2" square out of one side of the bucket and taped a tyvek filter there, not so much for the fresh air but to eliminate turbulent noise within the fan housing, if considering this step do not use poly-fill as it could be freed and pulled through the fan.

These fans work by pulling the air up through the fan and discharging it out of the top of the fan housing into a 4" ducting, so my pickup line is attached to the bucket, the other end secured to the top of the GH, the return coming from the top of the housing just dumps into the bottom of the GH

You can wire in a dimmer switch to control fan speed, but wide open has worked great for me, I made this plug-in-mutli-use-dimmer switch for controlling heaters (I use "heat-rope" taped to the bottom of the glass shelves in a refrigerator I cut 2" holes and filled with poly-fill to allow GE, use aluminum heat transmitting tape) in my incubators. I live in New England, winters suck, it may work for you instead of buying a thermostat...

To my surprised this system has actually improved humidity within the GH not reducing like I had worried might happen, I do not put anything in the bucket portion anymore, dry perlite reduces the humidity for the first 24hrs and there is no improvement by using wet and I always forgot to check on it since there was no benefit. I have seen a reduction in fruiting times using this tek and have not had one episode of cobweb mold (didn't have an issue with it before but this maybe your remedy for it), the green netting in the picture is used to keep curious flies out. I hope this helps. WS

I've got a 70cfm exhaust fan pulling air out of my GH. I might use it for a variation of this tek. It's a cool idea.
