Pressure Cooking Question....
    #1646660 - 06/20/03 01:33 AM (15 years, 7 days ago)

Ok so I have an 8QT PC and it fits about 8 Jars on the bottom...anyway. People here have told me that you should put 1" of water in there....my question is...should the wjars be in the water? Because the little disk rack that came w/ my PC doesn't attach to the sides of the PC, you have to rest it on top of the jars on the bottom and then stack more on top of the rack. So what I'm asking is if my jars will be fine if set up like this while PCing...

Sorry about my crappy ass picture....

You are using the steam and not the water....
Use good judgement, and calculate how much water you need.
The goal is to keep water in the PC yet keep it from bubbling into the jars during the process. Try it with an empy jar that mimics your current jars. PC that bitch, see how much water has/ hasen't entered the jar. Fine tune accordingly.

or I was thinking....alternatively....having some empty jars supporting the rack and then placing my substrated jars on top thus removing the water touching the jars, therefore the steam will now just surround the jars...would this set up work???

"People here have told me that you should put 1" of water in there....my question is...should the wjars be in the water? "

this is what i need to know as well, thanks for the replies thus far, stacking is obviously harmless, do you even need anything separating the jars?
