Is it alright if water gets in the jars a little? My friend didnt know how much water to put in, so he put how much it said in the PC manuel, an that was just above whatever your cooking. SO I filled it up just above to top jar an he belives water leaked in. Is that ok?
thanks

No that is not ok - most likely way too much water got in and you have oversaturated your substrate. If you knew what you were doing you could probably take one jar and check it's moisture content, but it might not be representative of the other jars anyways. Especially if there is water visible in the jars don't use them.

Your substrate should be moist, not wet.

I'd say there's a 99% chance your jars are ruined.
Do they appear to be full of water? I think they probably do if they were submerged. Start over.

you should put about 1" of water and you should have then sitting on the rack that came with your pc,you want to steam sterilize them not boil them and you also should have the jar lid just snug not too tight and cover it with tin foil.

As PM said you are using the steam and not the water. If you do not have a rack, a rag will do. 1" of water also depends upon if you are: #1 using a rack/rag and #2 useing short or tall 1/2 pint jars. Try to include what you are working with in future posts. It makes it quicker for all. If water did get into your jars, you will probably experience wet rot in the start of your project.
