Just Bonnaroo so far. Second set brought tears of joy to my eye's. I really feel for me that there's enough distance between now and Jerry's death to be able to enjoy the music. Since his death I had overwelming sorrow when I used to look at the right side of the stage were he would play. I guess time really does heals all wounds. I still miss him, but damn Ripple the energy is still there. We owe it to him and the other's that passed it on to keep it alive! Plan on jumping back on tour around NJ or Milwakee at the latest. Ride it out to Red Rocks. No Texas for me though. Lilac rain , unbroken chain Lookin for familiar faces in each and every window pane

If you get to the NJ shows you better stay with me and the family for at least a night ... , I'm only an hour away from the PNC center! I'll be at the Tuesday show.
i know what you mean .... He's Gone for about 8 years now...It still hurts but we have to enjoy his memory, and the joy that the remaining band members give to us!

Chinacat - Didn't you think that Phil singing Unbroken Chain just had so much significance? It was the start of their first full year being called The Dead, and Phil sort of took over the leader role, or at least that's how it seemed to me. Unbroken Chain was powerful at Bonnaroo.
I also loved every other song they played that night.

yes I guess you could say that between us we have been to a few shows
I will leave the story telling to my brother though, he's much better than I am at it and more inclined to spend time typing. I on the other hand am lazy.
I will say this about Phil's singing he sounds fucking great!
I remember (ok a short story) 'and my memories are fairly vague' a show at the Spectrum in Philly, after seeing the Dead for many years and never having seen Phil Sing well this Spectrum show has three mike stands set-up and were all like oh wow but Phil never steps up to the mike until they go into the chorus on Truckin....well the house just about came down that night!

Yea, i'm going to skip the NJ shows this week to save money. Glad I didn't buy my plane ticket. Jones beach will be fantastic(not that I have ever been there). 3 set's and 1 of them acoustic I bet you an ice cold beer we hear an acoustic ripple(/me crosses fingers). I'm going to bring my daughter also. My wife likes the Deads acoustic work so mabye she'll come too. There really giving us a good summer. Hitting the east coast and midwest big time. I would like to go to all the shows ,but it's just not possible. So many worldy responsibilities that I can't just take off care free like so many years ago. I'm sure you can understand that. Mouth's to feed and kids to raise. But It makes me feel so good to know that people are getting to taste that magic we have been so addicted too. Going to Milwakee probably. The whole summerfest idea up there has me thinking I don't want to go, but I got tickets. St. louis the next day then off to Red Rocks. Second leg i'll hit Chicago,Deer Creek, Ohio then up to NY. I look really look forward to meeting you Ripple. This is just a dream ,but imagine Hunter sitting in with the Deads acoustic set. I don't see it happening ,but it doesn't hurt to dream a little. He prefer's to play solo though. Either way it will be fantastic.

Hunter did an acoustic Ripple to open for Phil and Friends last year at Jones Beach!
Jones Beach is a great venue too, the stage sits on the water with the bay as a backdrop and the sound it fantastic! If the family comes along we can make one hell of a weekend out of it!
Looking forward to it hope this really happens
