I don't think people find shrooms to be profound because it takes you back to some more pristine, more 'natural' mindset, after all, indigenous cultures who lived this archaic existence still liked to trip balls. I think that, if anything, shrooms hail from the future.

That's a lot of "what-ifs". Wouldn't this be deemed as "Mental Mastubation" by Swami ?

Anyways, are you saying that ppl not "under the influence" of a society are walking around tripping balls from the very air they breath? This goes for all the african tribes and ancient civilizations too, I assume? I'm not quite sure what you mean there.

IMO, mushrooms and LSD are a drug, nothing more, although some ppl like to believe that they are some sort of divine tool used to reach a higher being.
They do change the way I've perceived the world, but I'm not going to quit my day job because "the mushrooms made me believe it was right".
Mushrooms can be a teacher, but should not become the leader in one's life

>That's a lot of "what-ifs".
True.
It's a tough to start to define what we would
consider a "divine tool".
Meditation, prayer etc have generally been considered
as such, since these are mechanisms normally used
(from a historical perspective) by those deemed to be enlightened.
Shamanistic tradations incorporate various psychedelics
in their practices. However, if u consider the sheer
number of people who have tripped in the last decade,
and find how many of them are currently abiding in states
of nirvanic bliss, I think u'll find very few (probably
less than or equal to the number who've become psychotic
- this is just a guess, I'm no authority on this). Of course,
one could argue that these people who tripped did so recreationally,
or for purposes other than sacred. It's a tough call, people
have become enlightened meandering in bazzars, but would u
call a trip to the mall a divine tool (regardless of how many
stunning redheads u discover) ? in any case, how imp is it to
label shrooms divine or otherwise ? imo, they're a tool that
offer a different and often intense experience, that can be
as negative as it can positive (by -ve +ve I mean general
effect on happiness, peace, fullfilment in life). Hope this helps,
just my 2cents

>designed to live according to the Designer)?
hmmm... tough to speculate on how we were "ideally
designed to live according to the Designer".

>yet psychedelics can bump us back up to 'where' we need to be
>spiritually
hmmm... that's quite a leap, if this were the case, then therapy
would be a rather simple affair... take 2 hits o acid and call me in
a couple of days
