Habitat: Grass (side of the road)
Altitude: 460 ft

Gills:
Sponge-like orange with blue bruising 

Stem:
Height: 6cm
Diameter: 6cm
Stem feels solid

Cap:
Dark red but drying to brown
Feels slightly slimy
Uneven, no nipple
Spongey texture
Diameter: 9.5cm


Spore print color:
Brown/black

Bruising:
Blue

Other information:
Gills are not visible from the underside of the cap they are covered by a orange spongy layer very. When broken apart the flesh of the cap/gills is very slimy

It's a bolete, but that's not nearly enough information to ID it accurately.

As far as edibility, the blue bruising and orange tubes strongly suggest that it's one of the poisonous species.

If you want to try and ID it, try using the keys at mushroomexpert. Boletes can be very difficult to ID accurately.

Try writing on it with a stick, that's always fun.
Also, when you tear the cap you can see all the little tubules that the spores drop down through and out of the pores, it's really cool, it almost looks like hundreds of tiny drinking straws all bundled together.
Just some "fun with mushrooms" tips lol
