Molds are commonly airborn and easy to get into an open terranium. If your setup is around 80 degrees, you're better off leaving the temp alone and just fanning more frequently (more air exchanges) in order to induce pinning... My cat says ("meow," but other than) that she has 86+ degree days in her terranium with no problems. Just make sure you compensate with more air exchanges to keep the humidity down.

Cubensis' are very adaptable to their environments. I read a post a while back of this kid in Arizona who had 96 degree temps and was still able to pin once starting air exchanges.

Gee thanks for that nugget of wisdom Anno. Why would you want your humidity to be lower if you have a high temp? Do cakes pin easier at lower humidity or something? Sorry to steal your thread MAGIC SNOOP. And to answer your question, i would just use cold packs well distributed. I have that same problem with 80f temps in my terrarium, my cakes don't seem to like the high temps, they haven't pinned in like 2 weeks

I see people use "hydrometer" when they mean "hygrometer" and "terranium" when they mean "terrarium" all the time and I like to correct it as well.  Actually, terranium is not a word, but hydrometer is a word and it has nothing to do with humidity.  It was not long ago that Anno corrected my "terranium" post and I am grateful.
