Has anyone went been or known someone that has gone to jobcorps? Im totally out of options on the job thing and i really hate where i live and love to meet new people, but i dont wanna live with a bunch of retarded or ghetto ass people. Is the certificate(sp?) good anywhere or only job corps placement program.. i know im not goin get everything i want to know but before i call the guy i wanted to see if anyone has had any experience's with em.

I'm pretty sure you have to live at a "job corp" place
the one in my town is a ratty ass motel.
and you have to work a job they get you
though you can train for different things depending on ability.

shit happens. people need some where to turn.
at least their getting jobs and not begging or robbing

Ya i just want to get out and have no options.. im hopin i can do some welding or computer repair but i need papers and certificate's for the real world if i can get that i will if not who knows....

Dont do it man, its not worth it. I had a friend do it and he went for the shortest period possible(3 months i think). Heres what he told me: Frequent shake downs of rooms by people in charge. You have to be in bed and in your room by a certain time. Half of the people there were court ordered to go there so theres that thug bullshit. They give you an allowance per day for spending, you dont get any of your cash till the end. Drug testing. Punishments in cash you worked for for breaking rules. Having to room with people you hate. You are restricted to where you can go and when. If they catch you with something illegal they turn your ass in to the cops. Frequent theft of your stuff by your thug roomies. Frequent violence by same said thugs.
Really man, I almost went myself and Im glad I didnt. You make less cash at the end of your term than you would working part time minimum wage. They restrict the hell outta your freedom. They wouldnt let my bud change rooms when one of his roomies gave him headlice, lol. Seriously, you'd be better off unemployed. Any certifications you get there will generally be laughed at by potential employers anyway.

Yes, unfortunatley thats a really accurate description......... An old friend of mine went, chose to go for 6 months......told me some of the same stuff.......plus he said the bathrooms, rooms......basically the living conditions are pretty sickening.....
IMO your better off unemployed on welfare or going to a community college or tech school....most places will work out a payment plan with you.......
