Book's not bad.
I read it first time when the old pope died. Was fucking surreal,I'd be reading of the crowds in St Peter's Sqaure, look up from the book, and it'd be on screen. All the dogmatic practice-walk of the cardinals, the white smoke thing...fucking surreal experience.
Quality,though.

I think America is afraid of infinite, or just really naive about physics. there's no future for physics anymore in America there too dam scared to go - one sign from the normal. Dirac and a bunch of guys have looked into this but there afraid...

First, you have to spend an insane amount of energy just to make antimatter. Then you have to spend more energy keeping it all away from ordinary matter - if they touch, they're both gone from existence, leaving nothing but a few very strong photons in their wake.
On a weight by weight basis, antimatter may be key to the greatest amount of energy. If you combine matter and antimatter, you get a perfect conversion of matter/antimatter into energy.
But it's not infinite. And it does take more energy to make the antimatter than you will ever get from combining it with matter.
This is so true. The only way we will ever see antimatter as an energy source is if we can mine it and not create it. Right now it is still Sci Fi as far as powering the world/spaceships etc..
The amount of antimatter housed at CERN in magnetic fields might power a lightbulb, not a nuclear weapon.

True, and its not even really stored there. They were only able to store it for 1/10th of a second

I read a book a few months ago on antimatter. They have developed a way to house a small amount for months or years but not enough to really do anything with except experiment. The magnetic field degrades as soon as 1 stray antiproton touches it so there is a mass limit. Also, the time it takes to aquire 1 gram of antiprotons is like a year.
