Dunked now discolored pins?

One can even dunk cakes/casing that already have small pins safely. Just don't overdo it, by 48 hours underwater they will be dead.

Skippy followed the Hippie Dunk Tek........for 16 hours dunked in the fridge
Now his Creeper pin caps changed color.
They are a little purple compared to the normal deep rust.
Is this ok?

The casing has been placed back into the GC for almost a day.......

The limited number of pins my friend has seen in his life have been dark red/purple in color. My friend thinks they are normal pins. My friend also says however, that if they changed color from red to purple that they might have been slightly bruised by the cold environment which is why they turned darker. My friend says 'good luck, my friend.'

That's bruising.  The mycellium's exterior itself can turn purple from rough handling as you put the cakes into the dunk container.  They should be fine...if not, they'll abort and you just pick em off and let the life in the cake sprout up elsewhere.

Boppity
