Salvia (The low maintenance method) (with pic)

Salvia grown in a Rubbermaid style container with ployfill / synthetic pillow stuffing filled holes to allow air circulation. I used 2 containers on top of each other with the top one clear. A little wet perlight is kept in the bottom of the container. This = very high humidity, as a result they require very infrequent watering. Not run into any problems yet. The soil has a higher percentage of perlite to my normal mix to allow better air circulation around the roots.

Note the CD rom for scale reference.

Simply place one large container on top of another container, the top one being upside down and see-through. Cut several holes into the container, I used the bottom one only and fill the holes with polly fill stuff to allow air exchange. Lay some perlite on the bottom of the container and wet the perlight. Also lightly spray all the surfaces of the containers with a water spray. Place you cutting in that environment and they should thrive. Water the soil and allow to drain, you don?t want any standing water in the pots. I use standard compost with perlite for added drainage. I feed with tomato feed, which is seed weed based every time I water, about once a week. Place the containers near a window, no direct sun light required.
