These are all thumbnails with links. Click on the pics to see a bigger version.

SALVIAS

My salvias grow in a skylight shaft.  They sit on a shelf - there's a piece of plastic above them to diffuse the sunlight.

Here's the Hoffman/Wasson: (5 gallon pot)

Here's the Blosser - my cat got into it, and broke most of the stems. I staked the remaining stem -it's making a comeback.

Here's the plastic covered box I use to keep humidity high to start cuttings:

Here's two in process:

Here's two (month old) graduates, currently in the shade between the two big salvia pots:

WICK IRRIGATION

On the opposite wall from the  salvias, I have an experimental wick irrigation system going. The plants are on the top shelf:

The bottom shelf is covered by a hanging canvas cloth to prevent evaporation. It also makes a nice humidity tent for rehabilitating injured plants (mostly ones my cats have munched on). On the shelf is a plastic tub with water - the ropes you can see dangling down hang down the back from the pots in the previous picture (which are right above). The ropes spiral up through the pots, thus keeping them perpetually watered.  Here I lifted the cloth so you can see -- the white wood shelf 2/3s up the pic is the level of the pots. The black wire coming in from the right runs a pump/fountain a couple hours a day to keep the water oxygenated.

HBWR

OK, now onto the HBWRs:

I have another indoor garden which is in a window facing onto the street. The ropes hang from a hook in the ceiling, and are held apart by plant stakes, thus making a "trellis" that the climbers can go up. I outlined the year old HBWR:

Here's another view of the same plant, from the top of the "trellis" looking down:

This guy is about a month old. I'm hoping he'll grow up the wooden frame.

And these are two  8 day old HBWR seedlings:

That concludes our tour. Snacks will be served in the foyer. Please don't forget to check out the gift shop before you leave!

Very impresive. that looks like a good place to grow salvia, I find a white bin bag works very well to defuse light, good for baby cacti to.

Very nice!!! I love your little salvias, they look so sweet!!! Your HBWR seem to be going on fine too!! How much humidity and light does your big salvias get?? the leaves seem a bit strange....

Plenty light, mostly diffused through the plastic. Humidity is low which is probably why they're curling. But they seem happy enough.
