Tyvek would work well for passive air exchange, but would not allow enough air to pass through an active air exchange such as an air pump.

Coffee filters would allow more air to pass, but would also allow microbes.

You can buy Polyfil at Walmart in the crafts section or most fabric stores.

You could try mounting your active air filter to a hepa filter of appropriate size. Hepa filters can be purchased at most WalMarts and home improvement stores.

You can also look in the pet section of Wal-Mart or Pet Smart .... you can get bags of polyfill that are used for filter material on fish tanks.
