Those things have fairly long stems. It looks like at least half of the stem is down in the grass or thatch.
I wonder if these lawns get de-thatched on a regular basis. It would be interesting to know if a process like that would help, hinder, or make this species fruit.
GG or Nomad, do you find these more often in well maintained lawns or does it seem to matter?

Kick-ass pics BTW

Well it was nice to hunt these with the Nomad finally.

It was a heck of a lot of fun.

These mushrooms are active and they are not Panaeolina foeniesecci.

Yes and also notice how there are little piece of grass still attached to the base of the stems.

They smell super yummy too!.

I suppose that we posted these pictures without enough information for everyone to understand that they are not foes.

I'm finally getting around to typeing up my own full description of the species (of which is currently unidentified).

Keep shroomin,
GG

Here are a few threads regarding the Pan Casters GGreatOne and
myself have found in this area. Rather being redundant, it is much
easier to post the links to the specific threads.

The rains are now coming. GG and myself should have more specimens to
post in the future.

Peace to Everyone,

i am proud to say that through GG's pics i have found about 60 of these specimens growing today on various well maintained lawns in central florida. they all have black spore prints and most of them when pulled out of the ground have blue mycelium. some of bluing even come up the stem a cm. they are identical to your pics. i found a patch of about 35 shrooms in one spot and i am in the process of drying all of them.

i took pics, but with a normal camera and maybe will have them developed in the next 2 days. if not then ill have them in 10 days after that when i come back from brazil. they are growing in HUGE numbers as the rains are getting heavy here and i am going on another hunt tomorrow with a friend. i actually thought that many of the specimens i collected were in fact P. foens but after taking spore prints they were in fact 'P. casters' or P. castaneifolius perhaps. i would say they are weakly active because of the slight bluing.

i was really exited on sunday evening when i found my first lone specimen while walking my dog. this morning i went out and found many many more, especially growing amongst NUMEROUS Conocybe tenera and/or C. lactea. where ever there were the former species i usually found casters among them.

i also found another 2 specimens of Amanita tenuifolia that toxic helped my identify. one is a mature specimen growing in moist weather so i will show the pics when i get them. beautiful mushroom.

tadahh.
