Dive Bombed

So maybe even the male rufous hummingbird I saved or maybe some other one decided today to dive bomb me about five times in a row. The book said it is either a mating thing or a warning. I say neither. That bird was just showing off. Having a little fun on a warm June afternoon.
He was doing some amazing swerves right before the bottom like some crazy luge bird and heading right at me. That was a funny twist to what normally is just a "J" pattern. They really are characters.

There was some kind of little bird that used to do that to the grill of my truck. It killed them every time. My dad had the same thing happen. We don't see those birds around anymore. We figured that maybe it was useful to predators or something when they evolved. It is less useful against a ford f-250. We don't see those little birds around anymore, figured they all killed themselves on peoples trucks.

Not sure why the bird was attacking Ford Truck grills. But as to "that" these hummingbirds are some amazing flyers. I have never seen one actually hit anything other than when they fight at feeders. Then you can hear some wings smack. Pretty tough little dudes though.

There are no hummingbirds where I live. I'd be stoked to be somewhere I could be dive bombed by one. Or just see them. They're amazing.

Never been dive bombed by a hummingbird but many times by bats. Blind as a bat is really a poor expression because those things can fly fast and crazy close without hitting you.

Recently I had a huge very cool looking moth with a black batman looking pattern on it's head land on my tire. I picked it up and held it and that thing started flapping its wings and vibrating like crazy on my hand. It was the oddest feeling I guess it was getting warmed up I was holding it in the sun. Went on for maybe 20 seconds then it flew up and landed on the side of the building nearby. I looked on the internet to try to find it with no luck.

Yea I saw a super rare one for my area two years in a row. This guy.
They are supposed to be in the southwest but I live in the Northwest. Had to have been the same bird coming back to my same feeder.

Yeah a month or so ago I had three or four of them flying around at dusk and pretty low to the ground. You can hardly see them and they make zero noise but yea they were coming close and it's a little scary cause they are black and come out of nowhere. I trust them though just like the hummingbirds.

So massive!
The fuchsia did the trick, there was a hummingbird at the feeder this evening. Looked like maybe a lady as her belly was pretty round.

I'm in Australia. We don't have any, not even migratory or feral ones. There have been a few false sightings reported, but investigations have always revealed that they're moths or butterflies mistaken for hummingbirds.
Mebbe peeps was trippin' and hopin', huh?
