Question about birthing
    #1637924 - 06/16/03 06:24 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

My FOAF just birthed one 1/2 pint jar, he did this because there was what looked to be cobweb mold growing in that jar.

After birthing the contents into a ziplock baggie, and after inspecting it closer, my FOAF was actually seeing 2 different types of non-contaminate mycelium (meaning rhizomorphic and tomentose.)

Now he has a jar, which wasn't fully colonized birthed into a baggie. What should he do?

Should he just case the colonized material?

or just throw it away?

bong-

any other ideas will be appreciated as well

*edited for clarification

Wait a minute, lemme get this straight. You friend has a jar that is partly colonized with myc and partly contam? Tell him to throw it away! Don't bother saving the part colonized with myc if there was contam present in the jar. It's too small to cake, and it will definitely fail as a case. Throw it out, bro.

No, it wasnt contaminated, but i can see from rereading my post how you could have thought that. I edited my post to make it clearer.

Ok, if it isn't contaminated, let it colonize further in the baggie, then case the colonized substrate or use it to innoculate more cakes or grow bags or whatever form of substrate you can come up with.
