Oh no, don't say that... it's 18C here, past week has been about the warmest it's been all summer.
My field was all marshy and a bit flooded as well, hope that doesn't kill the mycelium

Just been for a run up to a spot i picked a lot from last year. Managed to find around 40 in the first field i passed. I left them by a rock so I could collect them on the way back down from the top of the moor. I live top end of the North york moors btw.
Its weird because i never usually find them in that field, normally the fields that are higher up. You would think it would be vice-versa this time of year.
They were all in one patch. Hidden in amongst the more lush looking grass of about 5 inches. The season is well under way and its still fairly warm.
My car temp was about 14.5 Celsius when i was leaving at about 5.30. It was lashing it down so will let you know of anymore finds when i go back at the weekend. Will also check my other fields.

Hey I just wanted to mention there is an obscure mushroom documentary from 1980, VHS rip that is from UK that is pretty darn good actually with slow motion photography and all that. Even has interviews with Michael Madelin of Bristol University
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Francis_Madelin
http://avaxhome.ws/video/Format/documentary/Rotten_Worlds.html
or direct download links

I'm pretty sure it would not be a problem putting this on Youtube, since it's so obscure and old. It also includes the whole cow dung reproduction process which is part of this thread
update, and there it is
turns out that it is owned by Sonocairo, whoever the hell that is but it's not a problem they're letting it stay

Hiya people well I had my first taster today.. had to pop out somewhere and noticed some fields and a mystical looking landmark near it so it had the cues : ) Is our country side awesome or what ?
I stumbled on a bizarre crumbling stately home style structure in the middle of nowhere, like it came out of the ground itself. Love that kind of thing in middle of nowhere down 1 lane, tree cannopied country lanes. All part of it.
No sheep at this place though so I found nowt, vert dry but it was a nice walk in a new place and whetted my appetite a bit. Glad to see people up north are starting.
Lovely spot igCorcaigh beautiful.

I've checked a few spots this week, and above 900 feet there are quite a lot of caps out, but still only prolific in tight early season localities. In other places both at altitude, and lower- down to around 600 feet, there are just occasional single caps showing. The season for edibles seems to be getting good now too.

We have loads and loads of mystical landmarks in the peaks such as stone circles, Cairn, lows etc all of which are around lib fields...not sure if there is a connection but I like to think that the bronze age people were going round collection libs like we are now.
Perfect weather by the way for anyone wanting to go hunting- a weekend full of rain plus a cold but sunny morning today- it's my one day off work today so I'm going looking for oysters

Wow that sounds cool, I really want to go. They must have eaten them because food was so much less plentiful and they must of knocked their socks off
As a primitive human, how could you not attribute that kind of experience to mystical higher powers? I'd build a temple next to the field

Might pop out for a while before I start my work! I'm a relatively new poster from the west of Scotland! Excites me to see that the season is swinging in already!

My plan for this year was to chart all of the ancient mystical sites in Derbyshire and see how far libs and other psychoactive materials grow from them and see if there is a link...too many variables I think...plus I have a lot less time this year...would be a good project to do though (think it's classed as Ethnomycology) and has probably been done before me...

Hi guys, Glad to hear some of you are starting to find some. I know we aren't meant to talk about specific locations, but speaking generally, has anyone been lucky yet in the south east? I know season usually starts later down here but I'm wondering whether its worth a hunt yet?
Cheers
