Tiny Shroom with Disappearing Gills (ID Help Needed)

Hello again!
I need to get myself some better books before you guys really start to hate me!

Here are the pics of the shroom I found:

There's nothing like it in my book at all.

Look familiar to any of you guys?

Namaste.

Just looking at it, it's a strange one.

Based on the shredded looking margin on the cap, I would guess that it's something that's already going a bit bad, so identification will be very difficult.

So here's a Harry Thiers joke (he was one of the great mycologists of the last century). If you went on a foray with him, if you pointed at a mushroom and asked what it was, if it was a difficult one he'd carefully step on it, grind it into the earth, and say, "now we'll never know." (That's actually true, BTW)

Happy mushrooming!

LOL!!!

Yeah, I wished I could've found a younger one...
That is the only one in the whole yard that I could find, though.

Weird...

yea, we'd need better up close pics and a spore print. that specimen look old and dry, so a print will probably be impossible.

I just ran over a small patch of similar looking shrooms in my front yard.  I love riding the tractor across the lawn and seeing various shrooms popping up to say hello.

Over the last month there have been 6 distinctly different looking shrooms growing at various areas of our property.  I doubt any of them are active...none seem to fit MJ's descriptions of psylocibes.  The nicest looking ones keep growing up through the bark mulch, are a tan color and have caps with ridges on them (like a Ruffles potato chip).  Their spores are black and seem to live/die all inside a 24 hour period.

At my last place of residence there was a HUGE patch of amanita pantherinas growing (the yellow amanitas) under the pine trees that lined the front of the property.  I have some great pics of them...just no scanner to digitize them with.  :frown:  It's amazing how beautiful (and psychedelic) Nature can be.

Love & Light,

Boppity
