I doubt they are much different than US in most provinces, but I have no idea.

Considering how much more enlightened Canadian laws are concerning such matters, I'd say the penalties are much lighter. A quick Google search should tell you the answer.

They are going through flux right now because the Canadian Supreme Court has said that the current laws are not legal, and that they need to be rewritten. They are dealing with the same thing we are but are making better progress at it. Even though there are laws on the books quite a few of the canadian authorities approach it as we do our sex laws.
They are considering decriminalization but have come to the realizatiopn that decrim does nothing to decrease the criminal element of marijuana (except for those that grow it, but sorry to say most will continue to purchase - those that grow more than they can use will sell it, which will still remain criminal under new laws under consideration.
Full out legalization is the only sensible way to go, but they are facing major opposition on that from the US Government.

ohhhhh, shrooms!
For some reason I always think MJ. Shrooms as far as I know are not illegal in Canada at all, but this is anecdotal evidence from someone who said that he himself had done the research, so if it's wrong then I will refer you to him (generally his information is gold)

With shrooms spores are legal. Cultures of mushrooms and dried ones are illegal, but if you only have a few in your house, or garden you might get away with it,...if they're dried your fucked.
Mycelium, im not sure, but i believe its ok in canada....could be like the cultures though...illegal, but your not going to jail unless you have lots

But does anyone know the actual penalties for growing wet mushrooms? Because the spores are legal, does that mean the cultivation is legal? As long as they are not dried?

There should be a gov. supplied websight that has all statutes available somwhere, it just might take some knuckle down reading, or you could email some coolege law students who would do the research for you maybe. Unless there's an actual; lawyer on here it's a dice game, and I learned a long time ago when it comes to the law its best to read it right off the government source.

you should really check out how our economy works before you make such sweeping statements. Because if we dont have a strong economy (which depends on diplomatic ties with the US) our economy will become very weak, and the US will undoubtedly take much more control of us than they do now.
catch 22. we need to be friends with the US, so our defiance must be well calculated.

Last time I checked, the Canadian mushroom law was sketchy at best. It lists psilocybin as a controlled sustance, but makes no mention of any distinction as to the source (dried? fresh? mycelium?). I don't think the dried/fresh loophole carries much weight (despite popular rumor), but you're better off North of the Border in any case. Psilocybin is a schedule 3 substance, lumped together with mescaline, amphetamines and a host of their derivatives. Pot is schedule 2, all the reaaally hard shit is schedule 1. Beats the Yankee system; ALL DRUGS ARE AS JUST AS EVIL AS ALL OTHER DRUGS AND ALL DRUGS ARE COMPLETELY EVIL...except the ones we make a little coin off of...

IT IS ILLEGAL TO POSSESS MAGIC MUSHROOMS IN CANADA!!!!!!!!!!
Erowid and this site have false information about Canadian laws. They say that it's only dried mushrooms that are illegal, but that was changed with bill c-5. It is illegal to cultivate, posses wet mushrooms, and all that, but spores are legal.
There aren't a lot of mushroom busts, but on the coast a number of large-scale mushroom grows have been busted in recent times.
