Raising the humidity in a terrarium
    #1632885 - 06/14/03 11:42 AM (13 years, 10 months ago)

How can I raise the humidity in my terrarium? What I have tried so far was to take a couple small flower vases (the kind that is wide at the bottom then ends in a small opening) and filling them with water. I then put air bubblers inside and in the sprout I put some like plastic netting (just a little) to break up the bigger bubbles. This is working a little but I live in a close to desert location (not southern, quite northern; it's just a matter of proximity) so it's very dry here. What is a good way to boost up the humidity to 90%? It's about 32% right now.
Thank you!+

My friend also lives in a desert and perlite is the only thing that works for him. You can supplement the perlite with an aquarium bubbler for air exchange if you like.

the thing is, the aquarium bubbler I have doesn't seem to raise the humidity more than 20% tops. How much would the perlite highten the humidity inside?

Damp perlite will raise the humidity of a sealed terrarium to near 100%.
