In have yellow spots on my jars inoculated with Honey LC, they are large, but i used alot of LC solution, an entire syringe full for each jar. Is this Honey or contaminations?

Before vermiculite was available, I used perlite as a substitute (Yes, it worked). Because perlite is very light colored, I could see what contaminants grew in there. Darkening or yellowing of the otherwise light substrate indicated a bacterial growth. How long did it take for the spots to develop? If it's 2-4 days then it might be bacterial. Does the jar smell fruity or like old sweaty socks? Is a picture possible?

Honey LC should not have enough honey in it to look like honey,if yours did it wouldn't have grown any mycelium at all,and if your jars are quarts and were prepared on the dry side you may be OK with a syringe full of LC but it is definitely overkill and completely unnecessary,My guess is your moisture content is way off and the jars are screwed, post a pic for a more accurate response

its probably contamed. an entire syringe will throw your moisture content WAYYYYYYY off

yeah. 10cc per jar is overkill on amount of mycellium, as well as amount of water. maybe 10ccs for a 1 gallon jar...

'Yellow stuff' and 'jar' don't tell us a thing to help you with. Honey is yellow, and if you inoculated a 5 gallon jar with a whole syringe, you used way too little. . . .Unless it was a turkey basting syringe.

i dont think we are on the same page, 5 gallon jar?

i think he inoculated jars with an LC he made with honey. But he also said that he used a whole syringe (presumably 10-12cc) for each jar (presumably QT's).

My point was we need things like 'ten cc in a quart jar', 'half pint', etc. simply saying 'jar' doesn't tell anything. I'm sure it wasn't a five gallon jar, or a 3 ml syringe, but sometimes it helps to make a point in extremes.
