imagine you're a clump of spores floating in the syringe. you get inoculated into some BRF and you say mmmmm tasty i think i'll germinate. you break up into thousands of germinating machines. hello mycelium. you grow and grow and eventually make shrooms.

i'm just in an unusually silly mood. don't worry about it. there are tons of spores floating in that syringe you cant see. they're like 10 micrometers wide.

just give it a good shake between innoculations to make sure all the jars get some and it's fine!

Spores are microscopic. Of course, everyone here knows that as they are sold for microscopy use only.

What you are seeing are the proteins bonding. Spores are located within this protein material. No worries.

I had this problem, and upwards of 90% of my Malabar spores ended up in one jar. Several of the others have no growth after 4 weeks. Pay very close attention when inoculating to ensure that all the clumped material doesn't end up in the first jar.

Is there any air in the syringe?
If not, you can continue shaking for weeks with no results.

I advise you shake before you inoculate. Spore clumps are not a problem, as long as you take care they don't end up all in one jar, that's why you should shake before inoculating a jar. Of course, you can shake for days and days, but that's really not necessary.

When you want to avoid this problem in the future, try making a spore syringe from a very fresh spore print. This might prevent the spores from forming clumps.

Actually, clumping is caused by slight moisture in the print which is much more likely to occur while the print is fresh.

As prints age they become a very fine dry powder.

using a drop of jet-dry in your syringe water helps suspend the spores in the water... small tip!
