I need to seek professional help
    #1630183 - 06/13/03 12:43 AM (14 years, 3 months ago)

Seriously, I'm letting my ex kill me. I need some professional help to get over her. I admit it now. ONly problem is I barely have enough money to pay for food, much less a shrink.

Anyone know how i can get free psychological help?

We've all had bad breakups, and only time can heal those wounds. After my ex broke up with me, I became suicidal. I was sent to a psychiatric ward for a week(they're still hassling my parents about payment for that), where they filled me up with lithium. Then after a restraining order and a month of severe depression and crying myself to sleep, my parents sent me to a shrink, and I admit that that did help me quite a bit, but even after visiting him for a week straight(I had to go back to college afterwards), I still wasn't over her. It took several months before I could honestly say that I was completely, 100% over her.

One thing that helps: Write a letter to her in which you say everything you'd like to say to her. Write down everything you're feeling, but don't send the letter. Just keep it, because it's for you, not her.

I agree with silversoul7.

I have also just recently broke up. I am seeing a shrink through my school. I get 4 free sessions over the summer(because of summer school). I will get 8 free sessions over the fall semester. So far they have helped.

The best has been right down everything. I have used poetry and letters to describe how I feel. Even today, I was in so much pain. I just took out my pen and started writing, about three pages later I didn't have any hate or angry left in me. I felt great the rest of the day.

I also had to stop talking to my ex. I couldn't take it. you can read my posts about it. might help.

I am here for you, even though I am a guy, I am a good listener.

peace

there are many state run programs where you can get free help...shrinks, counseling all kinds of stuff, find out about your state.

If you are under 18 or in college your parents health insurance should cover it. There might be small co-payments like 10 bucks.

If you are over 18 and not in college your insurance should cover it. If you don't have insurance go to a hospital and apply for free care. As long as you don't make a lot of money you should qualify. You can also apply for medicare/medicaid insurance to cover the cost of medication.

Yes, as Solo suggested, you probably qualify for Medicaid in your state. But that might take some time, I'm afraid. But they usually pay any back fees you may owe, so you should seek help ASAP.
I'm sorry to hear things are rough for you! :frown: I hope things go better for you!

Peace
