    #1628961 - 06/12/03 01:16 PM (20 years, 8 months ago)

i was out front today in a light rain and i found there all over the sides of my driveway

young one

underside of that one

mature cap

underside of that one

i belive there are the same mushrooms they were growing together in all the places i saw them. i am guessthat they are growing fron the wood that lines my drivway. i did not see any on the wood but they only grow up and down the sides of the drieway oh i live in RI by the way
thanks for the help (i am trying to get a spore print too right now)

Great photos and interesting mushrooms.

Do they have any odor?

Keep us posted on the spore print.

Happy mushrooming!

ok i goot a pretty good print (IMO)
it is more or less gray/black with perhaps a slight pruple tint (i thinik)  this is my first print so i am not too good with the exact color if a print (i know that sounds silly)  but most of the pic that i see all look the same color to me

so ok here it is you be the judge

here is another pic of a young cluster growing they also grew alone (single)

the only smell that i can tell is "mushroom"
and the ones that i handled show no sings of any brusing of any sort
hope that helps
thanks peace

Given the fragments of partial veil on the cap edge, no ring, pallid gills when young that turn a dark brown, and a dark brown spore print, I think those are Psathyrellas in subgenus Candolleana, close to Psathyrella candolleana. There are actually several species very close to P. candolleana that can only be distinguished from each other with a microscope. They are common on things like wood chips and buried wood.

They are not active and edible but not recommended, mostly because of the difficulty in accurate identification.

Happy mushrooming!
