Why We Should Worship Trees
    #1629966 - 06/12/03 10:46 PM (13 years, 11 months ago)

Humans are primates.

The earliest primate was probably a small, nocturnal animal similar in appearance to tree shrews.  This ancestral primate stock split into two major lineages, one of which gave rise to the prosimians, which include lemurs, tarsiers, and lorises, and the other to the simians, which include the monkeys and apes.

Prosimians and many simians are arboreal (tree-dwellers), which is probably the ancestral life-style for both groups.  Arboreality probably selected for increased intelligence.  Flexible limbs are essential for active animals moving through trees.  Grasping hands an feet, in contrast to the clawed feet of squirrels and other rodents, enable primates to grip limbs, hang from branches, seize food and manipulate it, and most signifcantly, use tools.  Highly developed sense organs, especially good vision, and proper coordination of limb and finger muscles are essential for an active arboreal life.  Of course, sense organs are no better than the brain processing the sensory information.  Precise timing, judgement of distance, and alertness require a large cerebral cortex.

You see, Trees are the true Gods who shaped and molded our bodies.

I'm starting a new religion.  Who wants to worship the Trees with me?

Interesting theory, but a little hard to believe.

Early primates developed because of hanging out in trees or they hung out in trees because of how they developed?
What came first, the chicken or the egg?

I definitely believe they "developed because of hanging out in trees," as you put it. This is how evolution occurs. Animals either move to a new habitat, or their habitat changes in some way, causing them to adapt to the new environment.

When early primates first started "hanging out in trees," certain individuals had traits that made them more successful in their arboreal environment. Through random mutations and natural selection, these primates evolved more and more, making them masters of living in trees.

Eventually, some of the primates evolved into us, and we used the benefits of arboreal living that we had gained to become masters of living on the land. The trees definitely made us into who we are.

That's the way I see it, at least.

I feel trees emit alot of energy, alot of times when walking in the park I tire out cause I smoke before. In my mind I take energy from the trees, and maybe its placebo, or maybe it works, or maybe its just the hi. Is this wrong?

Trees definitely emit energy!  I don't really see it as "taking" their energy, though, because they are the ones emitting it to us!  Tree energy is good for the spirit!

Another reason we should worship trees is because they provide us with life-giving oxygen.  O2 rocks!

Peace,

RebelSteve

I am opposed in principle to the idea of worship. It conveys the idea that we are inferior to the object of worship, when really we are one with it.

Well, to me, the idea of worship merely implies that we hold the object of our worship to be sacred and feel that we owe it some sort of gratitude--no inferiority or superiority involved. I definitely think we owe trees a lot of gratitude.

I owe my parents a debt of gratitude for taking care of me all these years, but that doesn't mean I worship them.

I never said we should worship everything to which we owe gratitude. Holding an object as sacred or deriving some sort of spiritual benefit from an object is a big factor in whether worship is called-for or not.

Trees represent Creation. They are born from a tiny seed, a mere cell from the original tree, yet within them contains all the building block memory (DNA) for infinite more trees. It can also be used as an analogy for humans.

They fall from the tree, aware of themselves as separate from the whole.. they contain ego, and have a tough skin to the outside world to protect themselves.. soon, with nourishment and water, they emerge from their shell..and with the love of light, and the power of earth, they spread their roots deep into the ground, becoming one with the land, as they stretch out towards the light..into eternity. They are an eternal cycle... as the seed blossoms into a magnificient creation with as much ability to create as the original. It's fuctions are many, its purposes many.

Trees are holy and sacred, they are part of the Earth's unconscious memory, they contain the ancient wisdom that living through season after season of time brings.

They are perfect.

Trees definitely emit energy!

Yeah, I run an extension cord from the old oak tree in the front yard into an AC converter to power my house.

Seriously, what does that mean? Yes, they give off heat and waste like every other living creature.

I feel good around 'em... for whatever reason.

They definately feel more familiar than houses and whatnot... even though I've lived most of my life in houses.

O2 is not bad; too much of it will poison you though.. Ha Ha Ha... That is why, behind your backs, at night, when all are sleeping, those very same trees emit CO2 into the air... Ha hahah... They gotta fart too you know.

Have you never walked through a forest and felt a sense of calmness and serenity? Have you never climbed a tree, sat in its branches, and felt at peace with the world? Has the mere sight of a tree never filled you with a sense of awe and wonder?

This is the type of energy I am talking about. It cannot be measured in Watts.

I wanna worship the other tree dwellers, the birds, too. I'm thinking that the mid- level altitude has something to do with it....
