Here's a little thing I thought up in a dream and while during school
today that I thought would be a lot of fun.
First of all, invite 6-8 people over to my house who have tried or
wish to try mushrooms. Everyone ingests 2-4 grams.
Get 5 albums, all excellent tripping music on the cd player, volume
rather low, but still listenable. (I'm thinking maybe some of The Orb,
Miles Davis, Mozart, Yes and Aphex Twin.)
Completely shut off all light sources (it will be at night anyways),
make the house pitch black.
Arm each of us with a large flashlight and a few other key things for
survival.
I'm thinking we could make broad rules, no light turning on, a place
to go for maybe a bad trip, etc. I'd also hide all my valuables in a
safe place and all that business.
I'm thinking it would be a nice mushrooms test to do, I would probably
hide myself for about an hour on my lazy-boy recliner closing my eyes,
but this could just have such EXCELLENT potential, but I'm thinking a
few bad things could happen.
Any comments?

Sounds great!
I think a sitter is pretty handy if you trip with 6-8 people in your house. Make sure there is a room for someone who just wants to move to a quiet room or something.

Sounds like a good idea, but 6-8 people is way to0 much. 3-5 would be more reasonable.

Make sure the light in the bad-trip room is easy to find, too. Some people might want it.

8 may be too many, yes. I'd stick with 3-5 like djd586 said. Hide/relocate breakables, maybe have one well lit room for freakouts & one room with a dim light & places to sit (surrounding a bong). Nice choices on the music btw. I'd make several mix cds with an assortment of trippy music flowing together, but that's just me.

Thanks for the ideas and advice guys, I think I'll have 4 people, maybe 5 and I'll be sure to just make sure about the trust issue before, it shouldn't even be a problem. And I think one room with light is a good idea because in case someone does start freaking out then it'd just be better not to have to do too much, can just help him out in there. I really think it's a cool idea, I may make another CD with my favourite tripping songs. I may grab a semi sober person to be there too, maybe they can just smoke a few doobs and chill with us for most of the night.

Sounds like a brilliant idea. Similar to what I want to do this weekend. Parents going away, so I'm going to hook my computer up to the downstairs stereo, remove the glass table in the lounge, lay out pillows, blankets etc. Make it REALLY comfy. Dim the lights, maybe put the lava lamp down there, and turn the lights out. I have a really good Tool live set list that I'm wanting to test; it's 2 hours long, and is perfectly suited to pyschedelics. Maynard says some really inspiring stuff like "NEVER underestimate your intelligence" and there's a huge 11 minute intro before they kick into any songs, not to mention new intros to other songs. Bliss.
My friend hasn't tried shrooms before, so I'm hoping I can act out this plan and we can just chill all night listening to music on a mass of pillows and blankets.

you may want to make some rules regarding the flashlights because I see potential for annoyance with those.. some guy making circles or lines on the walls n stuff, tripping himself out but bothering everybody else
what kinds of ideas are you looking for? lay there with them and enjoy it with them :P

Haha sounds cool, where can I find this Tool set? Sounds very interesting, Tool is amazing live.
You ever listened to The Orb? They're fucking amazing for tripping and otherwise too but especially, I prefer them to Aphex Twin too.
I've delved even DEEPER into the idea, I'm thinking maybe make every room in my house different, one room with lots and lots of candles surrounding you, like a galaxy, one room with cushions all over the floor and Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew" playing on the speakers, one room with complete blackness and silence, one room with lots of nice little munchies.
I just think that would be such a cool thing to do, although it would take too much work and somehow seems too "organized" for mushrooms, although who is it say where the fences should be pounded into the ground? I often enjoy tripping simply with nature, but I think I shall do mushrooms twice this summer, once with this idea and once in nature, so it would be amazing both ways.
Any comments on the deeper plan?

I say go for it. The weather isn't always the best for tripping outdoors, and of course, you can always sit outside for a while if you wish. For the best kind of outdoor experience, you'd have to go camping (or have a house out in the middle of nowhere). Suburbs have that vibe of "if I lie here, someone might come along". Kinda sucks when you want to lay down and giggle at the stars.
Having a fully interactive trip house would be amazing for trips. When a house is bland, it's kinda boring for a trip, but if you make it completely trip friendly, then you'll have an amazing time.
I haven't heard any Orb. I think I have, and it wasn't my thing. Oh well.

Wow, nice setlist. I'm glad they have Third Eye on there, it's my favourite Tool song, I had soulseek but I deleted it, I'm about to re-install it though, cool stuff.

If you're interested in other live sets by other bands, just do a search for "bootlegs". Or, for each band, search for say "Tool live". Plenty of search results come back

Your idea sounds fantastic. It's funny too, 'cause this whole time I was thinkin' to myself, 'tripping at HeavenlyBlue's place all setup like that, wow that'd be really awesome.. i'm totally there! ... but then I realized you're not the HeavenlyBlue I'm thinking of, since he's changed his name to HB on the boards
