Cambodians are best in my opinion. super fast colonizer. and very forgiving if you fudge the temperature. my temp got up to a hundred easy on accident while i was at work and the cakes just kept flushing. a few times it got as low as 65 and they just kept going. they're pretty forgiving on water too if you fudge that as well. my grow chamber had too many big water droplets in the begining and they still flushed. then i also had a very small cake in a piece of Tupperware that i put on a shelf by the window once and forgot all about it. it was dry as a bone when i found it about two weeks later it had six mushrooms growing on it....that was my experience with them anyway...and it was my first grow.

My 7 day old incubating jars have more rhizomorphic and mycelial growth than those, something is seriously wrong there mate.

This may be a stupid question, and it's probably already been asked, but if one were to mix two strains of spores, since they are both cubensis, would they just form a phenotype in between the original two strains?

Usually what you'd get would be separate fruiting phenotypes from both strains.  Not a stupid question, though...

dear mr. viking sir,
rhizomorphic is an adjective that describes the nature or characteristic of mycelium. your sentence does not even make sense. your seven jars of whatever your growing has absolutely nothing to do with my my question... which was a mushroom i.d. question. thus we have 2 episodes now in which your statement does not make sense.
those are fully colonized cakes whether you think so or not. they produce dozens of fresh mushrooms every day. the problem has already been partly solved. the spore vendor sold me something that is not even a psilocybin producing mushroom. whether the mushroom is panaeolus cambodginiensis (which is what it is suppose to be) and is simply a sterile strain or whether it is an entirely different species i do not know. but that is irrelevant at this point.
a second off the subject point for the possibility of your own well being...it might not be the best decision to post a picture of your face and where you live on a blog where we discuss a hobby that could have the possible consequences of spending years in prison.
good luck on your seven jars. hope they are fruitful for you. God bless.

So how would one cross two races of cubes successfully?

Now that's what I thought but it sure seemed unlikely - and you said the cultures were contam free.

Like, the seasonal special? Halloween or whatever?
Or is that a strain name?

I would say that GTs are a more typical cube and are a great start
for a beginner.  They were my first and are good.

Just my $0.02,

Venom can be used to get old spores to grow.

Not to combine strains.

One cube will mix with another cube's spores. That is how they often grow in the wild.
