Paranoid about Galerina's

Just wanted some pointers on galerina's vs subs as I had seen some pics of Galerina's that I swear in the past and recently have passed as subs for me, I have 3 main varieties at my patch at home and one is strophs, the other 2 have distinguishing features that make me a little concerned. One is more caramel colour and a lower variety and the other matures as flat circles more creamy colour with a dark nipple in the middle. The others are more of an umbrella shape. They all have blue of the stems and of blue hints and hues in the caps and gills http://i.imgur.com/hBCkH.jpg http://i.imgur.com/YWUGi.jpg http://i.imgur.com/PSGtp.jpg http://i.imgur.com/uzjus.jpg Any suggestions appreciated

They all look good. Galerinas are extremely distinctive. Very orange stem, ring around stem visible 95% of the time. The cap of galerina looks Exactly like subs.

Galerinas can have white stems and can lose their rings. Your beat bet is the gill colour, galerina are lighter, more orangey wheres subs will be chocolate brown. Your truly best bet is spore colour but this may be time consuming if you have hundreds.

Due diligence when potentially picking Galerina is a good idea.
Spore print the mushrooms you intend to eat until you are thoroughly comfortable with IDing them.
Even when I spore print, and look for bluing, I have those bastards in the back of my mind at all times.
They can ruin your day.

How about a simple paper chromatogram for ID? That is very used as to distinguish similar plants... *hint*

Don't be too concerned; if your mushroom shows signs of blue bruising and looks like a sub, it is a sub. There's not any exceptions to that rule as far as I know...

Respect is a healthy response when dealing with a mushroom that could potentially end your life, my hat's off to you for allowing good sense to overcome excitement and bravado!

Thanks guys for your comments !! It's greatly appreciated. The spore prints all came out a dark brown colour on all of them. I seen pics of Galerina's on this post on google and got me A little concerned about my friendly subs as they looked identical. The blue in the stems and the blueing of the gills and caps is usually the give away for me. Can anyone give me a link to other actives in Melbourne to be looking for ? I found a patch in my neighbours garden and the whole cap is blue !!! Are they just super strong subs ? Or are they in fact blue meany? Final question does brewing them up in a tea reduce/minimise or cancel out the nasty bits that can kill you say a couple of shrooms manage to get through quality control ? I cant thank you guys enough and was wondering how I would organise my Magical Mystical Mushroom Mission. It's not to collect shrooms but to take a small group of people to a place that's out of this world....

The blue one you mentioned could be a number of things. Cortinarius sp. or perhaps an Entoloma sp. or could well be a very bruised sub. I have found some pretty blue ones. Most likely not a Cope (Meanie) as it isn't the right season and they are dung lovers. Best to post pics on here and get an ID if you are unsure.
I really don't think that brewing poisoinous mushrooms into a tea would eliminate the fact that that they are poisoinous. Don't eat poisoinous mushrooms. I f unsure, always get an ID.

Heat does not damage amatoxins. Unfortunately, it is not that easy. Bluing is a good sign but I was under the impression suba's were very light, subtle bruisers, where some newbies might confuse normal mushroom darkeming for blue bruising but if you can distinguish them, fair enough for you. Subas have dark brown prints. Watch out for any lighter colours. Honestly, do some research on the possible lookalikes and their spore colour, it'll stop the worry.
