Exactly. From that one stoned rant on the radio about DMT, thousands of people that probably wouldn't even have heard of DMT have now smoked DMT.

Seems like a good thing to me.

So again I ask, how is that a bad thing? The guy is a fucking stand up comedian, nobody has ever claimed Joe Rogan as the leader of the psychedelic movement.

for some reason it makes me feel old to know that rogan is helping expose  kids to psychedelics. no hate at all here, it's just weird.

so what he has fans and a voice its still those peoples decision to agree or disagree with his words. If you take everything he says to be true without questions than your an idiot with no way of thinking for yourself.

i actually like rogan in spite of whatever criticisms or intellectual reservations i may have about what he says. i know how to take him; he's entertainment. i recall listening to his podcast before and would be willing to give it another go. i know where to go for his podcast, but if anyone is willing to point me in the direction of some particularly good episodes it would be appreciated.

Graham Hancock was pretty interesting as well, although I wish he would have talked about his work from his Supernatural book more.  For more comedy, the first one with Doug Stanhope was great, as well as the Kevin Smith episode.

thanks. i'm a graham hancock fan. i can't sign on the dotted line on really any of his ideas, but i find him entertaining. supernatural was a fun read in spite of it being about 100 pages too long. his take on the drug war though is spot on.

I'm sorry I missed out on this discussion. I think  Ombient has a good point.

I tried listening to him from a perspective of someone who's against drugs. And he sounds like a total clown to me, when he's in his advocacy rant-mode.

Last thing I heard was him telling that famous Physicist he should "toadally drop acid, and trip on shrooms bro, lol".  I'd had enough.

It's not how we perceive him, we are the choir and he is the preacher. We like when he gets fired up. But to the actual mainstream, the people who voted Bush in twice and just banned gay marriage in NC and who think marijuana is evil, Joe Rogan looks like a douche. He is not helping the situation.
I would maybe compare him to Leary. Not nearly as educated, but nonetheless quite similar. Leary said a lot of awesome stuff and a little bit of crazy stuff, and he turned lots of people off and lots of people on. Joe is doing the same things, just in a different world.
I kinda like Joe, I'm glad he exists and does what he does, but I can't stand to actually listen to him. That's it for my thread-bumping.

i think the way joe treats guys like graham hancock seriously is part of his charm. how can you not just love the guy for that? it's just funny. move over edward gibbons, graham hancock is here to give history a dose of serious business.
