joint paint (hips and knees, mostly)

I'm not sure what to make of it. I'm only 22, so i wouldn't expect my joints to be achey. but my left hip (or hip area, i don't know what the actual joint is called) hurts, quite frequently. occasionally it's bad enough that i can hardly walk. or getting out of bed is a bitch. i used to get it in my left knee, and it'd almost start to feel like my knee was about to buckle and completely give out on me. my right hip feels fine. i don't work out or lift weights or run, i do a ton of walking though, as i'm outside all the time, and i stand up all the time at work, so i'm on my feet most of the time. i haven't noticed any patterns though, more walking or working doesn't seem to correlate to more pain. nor does an extreme lazy period seem to change anything. i don't know if a position i sleep in is screwing with it, or a way that i sit, but it seems to be getting more frequent overall. it does go away for times though.

your description of where it is exactly located is very brief though i think i know what you have.
you have in order of most likely to least
A) hip impingement and possible bone spurs and possibly a hip labral tear in the joint which is a result of hip impingement B) hip bursitis or tendonitis C) pinch nerves and thinned or bulging discs in your back. ( people with these have untreated flat feet alot of the time) and it can effect your kneeds and hips. D) inflamation or irritation to your sciatic nerve.

oh and go see a hip doctor pronto. this isn't something you want to 'wait out'
but do research on those and im sure you'll find that its one of them. or even possibly a couple if its happening to you as frequent as you make it sound

ok, cool, i'll look into those. and yeah, i may as well see a doctor, what have i to lose? in the hip, it's on the outside part of the hip, and it feels like where my leg and hip come together. very high up on my leg/very low hip. sorry, my anatomy knowledge sucks. and with me knee, it would be in the front and just below the kneecap. it would seriously feel like it was just going to blow out. i wondered if something was wrong with an acl/mcl, but since that seems to have mostly gone away, i haven't been worrying about it. it felt loose, in a way. i'd walk really gingerly because i seriously thought my lower leg was gonna lose some sort of connection to the knee and just hang. weird feeling.
thanks for the reply

just having looked at where the bursa is located, that seems like the exact location of my pain.

yeah you see thats the thing. you might get the pain of the bursa and the pain of a hip impingement confused. i did for years.
for me it was hard to open up my legs as much as i wanted too. the best example i can make would be like when you go to stretch your groind, my legs cant go out that wide because the bone in my joint had impingement, causing pains in the hip/side of the hip on certain movements. even moving my legs high up in front of me like leg raise in the front it would feel congested. my knees started to hurt too a little bit and my posture and back started to get worse espicially when i wasnt in shape. and when i tried to get back into shape it hurt to much consistantly so i got the surgery.
do you have groin pains by any chance?

i don't have any groin pain. i get some lower back pain every now and then though. usually seems to last for several days a time and then disappears for a while.

yeah man go see a hip specialist. not a regular orthopedic.
you should go see another doctor strictly for your back. sounds like you might have a thinned disc and need more support for that.
that means more core and back workouts.
i have doctor recommendations but im guessing you dont live in NY
