I can see them when I click on the link.

When you're creating your post, did you make sure that the value in the drop-down list labelled "Make post" was either "using UBBCode" or "using HTML and UBBCode"?

Unless the lawn was fertilized with horse manure I would guess that it's still <I>Panaeolus foenisecii</I>, just with a darker colored spore print than the others. But MJ or one of the others may have a different opinion.

Happy mushrooming!

thank you toxic. well, it was fertilized - also - with some horsr manure, and the print seemsvery different from all others in the lawn, which i believe are foeniseci. i'll go check nearby stables now

NIggy, if it had black spore print than it cannot be panaeolina foenisecii which has a choclate brown spore print.

yes there is a chance. maine to n.c. means including NY. look in decidious forests 'next to streams.' im not sure why next to streams except perhaps because of the waters creating disturbed ground, and there are other forms on disturbed ground.

from the second pic, it looks like the spore print you took was awfully light, unless im just assuming thats the only one you took. if it is, then please take a heavier spore print by leaving the cap under a bowl with some water sprinkled on the cap for 2 or 3 hours at least.

actually, what you see was not intended to be a "print", but it is simply a result of my sloppy handling, when i moved the cap i inadvertently  on the white paper.  so, what oyu see is the result of the cap on the ppaper for only a few minutes. unfortunately, the specimen was misplaced during printing :frown: and is now lost
