Oh yeah, I lived in that state for a while. Y'all have some weird laws.

Can you give examples? I've lived in VA all my life, so I can't really identify any weird laws compared to other states.

You still have 'blue laws', things you can't buy on Sunday?
And the alcohol thing, certain proofs aren't legal. And do they sell 3.2 in food stores?

Some counties don't allow any alcohol sales on Sunday. Around here that's not the case. There are however lots of ABC liquor stores that aren't open on Sunday, but there are some that are.

As far as buying alcohol in grocery stores and gas stations, I think the highest I've seen is like 18% wine. I know there's a limit for percentage, but I'm not exactly sure what it is. All I know is that when I was drinking I went to the gas station or grocery store for beer and wine and the ABC store for liquor. If I wanted liquor on Sunday, I would usually have to either plan ahead and buy it on Saturday or buy a bottle from my neighbor, since he always had a pretty good stock of liquor. I'd toss him a couple extra bucks over the retail price of the bottle. As far as times go, you can buy alcohol from 6am to midnight at stores and until 2am at bars and restaurants. Also all bars had to serve food, they can't just sell alcohol.

Now 3.2? What do you mean by that?

In Cali, and Oklahoma they have beer that has 3.2% alcohol, instead of the 6-7% regular beer has.
They sell it in food stores because people like beer with food, but it's hard to drink enough to get drunk.

You guys still have certain grocery items off limits on Sunday? Or is that gone?
I forget what the deal was, it was long ago. But sometimes you couldn't buy the food you wanted because it was Sunday.

I've never seen beer that was that low %. Well maybe a wheat beer, they're pretty weak.

As far as the food goes, I've never heard anything about that. I'll have to ask my dad. But why in the world would the prohibit certain food items on certain days? That sounds plain retarded.

It was lame, man. Ask your dad about "blue laws", and I bet he talks until your ear is blue.

I'd like to, but I don't talk to my parent's about alcohol. Never have, probably never will. It just feels weird, because I caused so much destruction in my life with drugs and alcohol. All they need to know is that I'm sober and haven't had a drink or drug in quite a while. Hell, it even feels weird talking about my sobriety with them.

Just looked up Blue Laws on google. Apparently they were repealed in VA in 1988. No wonder I had never heard of them, I was about 4 years old at the time.

Pennsylvania is rediculous for alcohol. I live on the WV side of the WV/PA border and there are two towns right on the border where people will drive 15 - 20 minutes to my town to get liquor or beer as opposed to going to the nearest store in PA because it's more than 20 minutes away for beer and 30 for liquor.

My Grandparents live in NW Pennsylvania. I was totally blown away the first time I ever went through my first drive through for a case of beer.

My grandpa belongs to a lot of clubs. Eagles, Masons, Shriners, etc. He usually makes the rounds to the clubs to sign up for raffles. I went with him a few years ago and we went to one of the new clubs bars. I was blown away. We bought a round for everyone, like 20 people there and it was like $10.

I was getting Jack and cokes for like $2 and a pint of Yuengling was freakin $1.50. Good god, at a bar. I was shocked. And those Jack and cokes, lets say the bartender (friend of my grandpa) was no skimping on the Jack. She was pouring that shit in there.

Around here a Jack and coke is like $4-7 depending on where you go and a tall Yuengling is bare minimum $4-5.

I got tore the fuck up for like $10, plus the $10 for buying everyone a round.

You can't buy beer in PA at gas stations or anywhere other than a beer distributor, I thought? And then you had to buy the liquor at a state store. (This excludes bars. I guess you could walk into a bar and buy a 6 pack to go, but it'd be like $9.)

And I always kind of assumed alcohol prices were roughly the same everywhere, with local taxes changing the prices a bit. Is it expensive in VA, too?

They have it in Colorado as well, or used to at least. I remember picking up a 6-pack at the grocery store shortly after moving there and not even getting a buzz. I told my friends & they laughed their asses off, then told me about the 3.2%.

:ifyoucanawe: Lame as hell........
